Well, having read the articles, I can see where the concern might arise. Not necessarily a "panic" sale, but at the same time the Saudis have sold TEN properties on that road. Not only that, but several other estates in the same neighborhood are for sale. It is just odd that, in an area where a property coming on the market is so rare that it elicits international interest, so many properties are on the market.

Eggcellent, this is precisely it. I remember as a kid driving through these areas with my dad and he would point out the mega mansions and palaces and who (some) were owned by. Sheiks, Sultans, Oligarchs, wealthy business families, gangsters etc... Point being, that I could point to many of these places nearly 20 years on and ALL the owners are the same. London is their summer playground and these properties are top of the pyramid. Once these houses are sold, they do not come back on the market for a long time and even if offered money at huge markups, most existing residents will not sell.

Also, i doubt this is part of some alliance with the Shias. Even in minority communities where Muslims are expected to stick together, they fight and despise each other.
