I was "taught" nearly the same thing in the Navy in 2005 when I went through a USMC security auxiliary force training program. They said the most radical groups of all were "conservative Christians" then went on and on, slide after slide showing abortion clinic bombings, Oklahoma city, "gun fanatic" militia training videos, etc.

I was a dumb little E-3 and it was being taught by an officer so I didn't say anything, but it REALLY bothered several of us in the class...

If I knew then what I do now I probably would have been going to court martial...

They can't do it without foriegn troops. There will be US troops on our side that, when asked to do this kind of bullshit, will swing their sights around the in opposite direction...probably enough of them to give citizens the upper hand. If they use foreign troops, then it will be a different story.

I actually don't think they'll even try this until a large pprtion of our troops are overseas, fighting some new war. That may have been the reason behind the drive to get into it with Syria.

the meeting was simply about what the scenario might be for Guardsmen in a case of societal breakdown which evolves into the 'worse case scenario' of martial law.
