Public opinion would unite against the "rebels" until the crisis was neutralized...and then the MSNBC and Fox News punditry would IMMEDIATELY begin "debating" the "reasons" this horrible act of citizenry demanding fairness in government occurred.

After much to do, the left would blame it upon global warming and the right would blame it on gods punishment for the legalization of marijuana....this effectively turning into a culture war between neighbors who ACTUALLY have completely shared interests in having a corruption-free government.

All are events in our more recent history (last 100 years) that will NEVER happen again because of the media culture and internet. They would be looked at as traitors against the U.S., the military would fly planes in within a half hour with soldiers, and they'd be held on terrorism and treason charges for the rest of their lives. The media would play it up as right wing extremists not following government protocol and process, and would openly call for any of them to get a federal death penalty. People would go back to watching their shows and not care AT ALL what happened.

I would not call this a civil war or revolution. Corrupt governments might. Just people standing up for what's right and kicking ass when those in power would do nothing about it.
