People who are inconvenient to us, who cost us money, who maybe are unattractive, unappealing, who seem stupid, or don't function well, who demand too much time...all of those things that detract us from the thing we love most in the world....OURSELVES...can always be justified to be killed. Although it has to be done with humaneness. And some nice method like...oh...pills...or maybe gas. I like gas, it's efficient and doesn't affect the stomach. And of course, it should be done out of sight, in camps or nursing homes or abortion clinics or prisons or plantations. Now a person who has lived healthy and done everything they can and has not been a burden on the system might have some extended coverage or co-pay or deductible etc and we're not just going to pull the plug on these people, but when Chris Farley strolls in at 70 years old high on crack and drunk and needs a new liver so he can get back to his van, down by the river, well...Chris, what have you done for us lately? Got anyone who can pay for your transplants? Well, that is their logic.... I for one think it's evil, to have someone pay premiums their whole life, only to deny them in a time they need it most. However, I do agree with the concept of not prolonging life if there is currently no good quality of life, such as people in a vegetative state where chance of recovery is ZERO (unless one believes in miracles, which I don't). And before they talk about refusing treatment to the elderly, how about refusing treatment to murderers and rapists in prison and also, possibly, lifelong welfare adults who are ABLE to earn a living, but choose to leach off taxpayers instead? |

Why would I call you names, you haven't called me any?? Calling name seems to be the standard practice, that was meant for all posters, not you in particular. Yes, you can sue, but that does not change the fact: at 70 you are already MAINLY covered by a government controlled insurance program. And in case you do not know this, medicare part A is manditory at age 65. Part be has a 10% penalty on premiums for every year after age 65 you enroll, unless you can prove private coverage. My part B cost $100 per month, plus I have a very nice B/B plan that picks up all co-pays and deductables and drug. But I am pert of a fortunate minority. Please explain how government stops a private plan from paying for procedures? Or how medicare does not already have the ability to deny coverage |

In Australia, everyone pay's 1.5% of their income into Medicare, that's what is needed here. The Republican (Romney) plan is going to fail.  |
