Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
I was never one to believe in ghosts. I just thought most people who indulged such beliefs were silly. Well, about three years ago we moved into this older house where an elderly woman had passed away. We noticed odd things pretty quickly. Strange noises, like disjointed voices that seemed to come out from nowhere, footsteps in other parts of the house when no one else was home, and one day a door slammed shut when I was home all by myself and in another room.

Then things quieted down for a while after a time and I forgot about all of the strange things that happened. I still wasn’t convinced it was a haunting. Then at some point I got a Rottweiler puppy who always seemed to have a sixth sense, she’s just very sensitive and intuitive with people and places, and to this day she has the most extraordinary sense of smell I’ve ever seen on any dog. Anyway one night, I was up late just playing with her, my husband was in bed. She was about 8 months old. At one point she turned towards our hallway, and started going NUTS. I mean barking and growling like crazy, just staring at this one spot in our hallway. My husband woke up and hollered out asking what the heck was going on? I said I had no idea. She continued barking and growling for a good two or three minutes, then she suddenly started whimpering and crying, and turned tail and ran down stairs. She would not come back upstairs that night.

So not long after that we were preparing to move, and I was upstairs, home alone, packing up boxes. I was in the living room, across the room from the coffee table where the remote control was. I remember thinking how quiet it was in the house, and I started to walk across the room to get the remote and turn on the TV. Well before I could get over there the damn TV flipped on ALL BY ITSELF. And the show that was on, I kid you not, was “A Haunting”. I’ve just never seen anything like that happen before, in my may years on this planet, it was very unsettling.

All has been quiet in our new house for almost a year. However two nights ago, my Rottweiler started going apesh*t again at about 1 am. Barking and snarling and growling. She is kept inside so I ran downstairs to see what the heck was going on and didn’t see anything. Went back upstairs to go to back to bed and was awoken again at 2:30 am. It sounded like someone was in our kitchen, hitting something glass? It was a very strange sound. Sort of like the sound you hear when dishes are clanking together. My grandma just passed away a week ago, and she always had a love for all types of glass figurines and dishes. I sure hope Grandma is resting peacefully and this was just some random occurrence.

Telepathically is the way that is easiest for ghosts to communicate, I have these telepathic types of occurances happen alot.

So is it your belief that ghosts can read our thoughts? And that is why the TV turned on when I was just thinking about turning it on? I asked my dad what could make a TV turn on by itself and he said it could have been a HAM operator in the area, but I think that the timing is awfully coincidential. Well now you've given me goosebumps just thinking about it.

You know, I really believe some people are nullifiers. Nothing supernatural ever happens around them, because they're subconsciously damping it. They also seem to be fascinated by the supernatural. In short, Uri Geller has the supernatural ability to bend spoons with his mind, and The Amazing Randi has the supernatural ability to prove that Uri Geller can't bend spoons with his mind.
 Quoting: The Guy

their God, Jehovah seeks total control of all paranormal powers on this planet. Ultimately, it's not money they want a total monopoly over, it's supernatural powers.

The bible says that your familiar spirits are evil and you should never seek to make contact with them. Chinese worship their family spirits, their ancestors.

I saw a show where a Christian girl thought praying to their ancestors was of the devil. How could that be evil? What sort of evil god would convince them of such a thing?

Certain gods actually the real 'nullifiers', they brainwash people into atheist, and never allow anything supernatural to happen around them, or at least, keep it from their conscious minds.

The devil has already done this to 1/3 of the world and will soon do it to the entire globe, convince you of atheism, while this super-paranormal entity takes total control of all life on the planet.

When the bible says 'our god is the god of "Abraham and Isaac", they are really concealing that they worship their ancestors, they worship their race, and don't really believe in a 'god' per se. They trick other people's into worshipping their ancestors, too.

There is a place to check out in Texas, if you can handle the chilly doom feelings you get by merely being there.

Cisco Lake Dam In Cisco Texas. It was the largest outdoor cement pool in the World for years. It was built as a resort style place and people came from far and wide to stay there. It had the pool, a zoo, skating rink, cabins, and in its hayday, had thousands of visitors. It was closed in the 1970's but, you can sneak up to the Dam. The dam itself housed a portion of the zoo, and was open on the side. There are walkways into the dam that go all the way through the length. We have been in there exploring and let me tell you, the doom feelings I had were scary. There is a presence that is foreboding to say the least, I made the group turn around and go back to the entrance.

A large approx. 6lb crystal off our chandeler somehow lifted itself off its hook (that was not broken in any way) suspended about 20ft off the floor and arched itself about 5 feet and smashed all over the floor at 7am. The chandeler was also swinging and that is pretty much impossible because it probably weighs about 300lbs. Only my mom and I were home and quite fast asleep. I tried to figure out how on earth this could have happened but there is no logical explanation for it.

I lived with an opiate/weed addict for a year. Needless to say there was definitely "something" attached to him. At first I felt bad, but after a while the noises from the hallway became tiresome. When I started doing actual meditations and what not, the actual roommate started to get irritable and depressed.

I had always heard about entities attaching themselves, specifically to drug addicts, but I had never believed it until I saw this up-hand. During a lucid dream one night, I flew myself over to his room. The image was so vivid, I remember it to this day (this was nearly 4 or 5 years ago). Just a black mass floating above his bed. It was pretty disturbing.

After the lease was up, I moved out and got as far away from him as I possibly could. 2 months later he OD'd on heroin.

Interesting. Not sure if your a bible person but revelation 22:15 mentions those practicing spiritism, in some translations it says druggers or pharmakoi (pharmacy). Just thought I'd throw that out there

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
I posted this in its own thread, where it didn't get much traction. Hopefully someone reading this can relate:

This is a true recounting of an event that happened this past Spring.

My daughter had just received her learner's permit and was learning how to drive. One evening I was in the passenger's seat as she was driving our small car. We were heading to church for an activity right around dusk, just as the light was beginning to fade. As my daughter was driving down a main neighborhood street with a posted speed limit is 40, she was driving in the inside (median) lane. As we drive past a large median we both see two kids that appeared to be running across the median and heading directly toward our lane of travel.

Here's where the story gets strange. We both react as we see them approaching the car in a full run and we both audibly make a noise (a shreek and a gasp). As she drives I see the boy in the lead as he appears to reach the front tire area of the car, running at full gate into our lane of traffic. This was all happening very quickly and there wasn't any time for brakes.

Here's where it gets stranger. As she is still driving we both see this "boy" reach the side of the car and totally vanish! The other boy who was running slightly behind seemed to similarly vanish right into the rear area behind the car. We look back behind us (she looks back in the mirror, and I turn around to look) and we see absolutely nothing but another car that was trailing in the adjacent lane with its lights on. No boys anywhere.

We were both caught off-guard and totally surprised by the incident. There was no impact, and no signs of either boy behind us even though they clearly were running at high speed into our lane of traffic.

We spent the rest of the drive to church discussing what had happened, and our visual experiences were the same. The boy in the lead appeared to be wearing a horizontally-striped shirt and jeans, with longer blonde wavy hair. The odd thing is that both boys seemed to have a "grey" appearance about their being, from their clothing to their faces. I would describe it as if they looked only half-materialized. Both my daughter and I have very similar descriptions of their physical appearance and the odd grey look about them. I would say that the grey appearance was their most notable feature.

We both found the experience to be very odd and somewhat disturbing. Shortly after we had this experience there was a report from our area of another driver having a similar "phantom" experience.

I don't know what to make of it. It looked to me as if the boy in front (older) was approximately 14 years old, and the boy in the rear was approximately 10 or 11. I still have flashbacks of the boy disappearing as he seemed to come directly into contact with the side of the car as we as we drove down the road at the posted speed.

I have read about missing time and time shifts, but has anyone here ever had an experience like this?

I'm not sure how you would even classify it, but I do know that we both experienced (and physically reacted to) the same phenomenon.

Here is a link to a post card collection site, it has some info on Cisco dam. [link to www.moodyscollectibles.com]

And no, it is not listed as haunted, but it is. There are all sorts of stories about people drowning there, animals breaking out of the zoo-never to be found, and of course the stories of devil worshipers holding meetings there- killing there. The times we have been, I had panic, something was telling me to get everyone away from inside the dam- that they were going to be pushed into the old animal holding tanks that were below the slender walkway. The walkway is about 4ft width all throughout the dam flanked on each side by holding areas that get deeper and deeper as you walk towards the middle of the dam. Those holding areas, where the animals were, have graffiti where people can reach but the railing is loose. Creepy as hell interior, then to add the sixth sense of feeling threatened, uneasy, something otherworldy communicating to for you to leave, and that is enough for me to know to be careful while dabbling around there.

My father died, and a year later I saw him standing in my living room. It was not a dream, and it was not a vision. I simply saw him in 3d...in the present. He looked wonderful, and he was wearing a beautiful blue robe. It changed my life forever.hf

Actually, most people have "attachments" of one sort or another. Most of them will never reveal themselves since they tend to feed off of one type of emotion, usually the lower vibrations such as fear or lust. I've always been able to see them around people, as well as their auras. They tend to look like translucent spiders and they are usually attached to their heart or root chakras. Most of the entities that come a knockin' at night, usually after 2 in the morning, are just passing by. Drug addicts are easy to spot. They tend to have these ugly snake-like entities wrapped around their necks.

It's weird because I picked up a friend from an AA meeting and all the people walking out had all sorts of parasitic attachments all over them. Poor people, they dont have a chance with all those entities manipulating them into further addiction.

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
When I was about 12 or 13, my family had a big reunion. My great uncle was there, and I remembered my mother had told me that he was into palm reading and tarot cards and that kind of stuff. He wasn't exactly Catholic like the rest of my family. During the festivities of the reunion, he started doing "readings" for some members of our family. I didn't believe in that sort of thing, but my brothers and I decided to see what he had to say just for the heck of it.

He told my brothers some random stuff about where they'd live and who they'd marry, but when it came my turn, he just said, "Did you know you have a ghost?" "No," I said.

He said, "Yeah, it's an elderly woman in a pink dress, and she just follows you around. I've seen her around you this whole day."

I thought he was nuts, so I forgot about the whole thing.

Fast forward about 10 years later, I was in college, and I was driving home late one night and I fell asleep at the wheel. My car crashed head-on into a telephone pole, and I was knocked unconscious. About 24 hours later, I came to, and I was in a hospital bed and my mom and dad were there. There was a large silver crucifix necklace hanging from the arm of my hospital bed. I asked my parents where it came from and they said "It was there already when we got here."

I asked the nurse about it when she came in, and she said, "Before you even arrived here, this lady came in and gave it to us. She described you and said you were on your way here and she just told us to give it to you." I asked the nurse what the lady looked like. "She was old...wearing a pink dress."

Ok, here is something I will never forget! This was in the early 90's when the Beastie Boys album Ill Communication came out. I had bought the tape, yes tapes were what we had then, and my girlfriend and I had listened to the whole album and we loved it. Then later that night my best friend stopped by our apartment and he wanted to listen to it. I popped in the tape and the 3 of us were listening. At one point in a song, my tape deck slowly turns down the volume, right down to silence, then the most shrieking, bloodcurdling screams blasts out my speaker! The scream lasted only a second or two, then the volume slowly turns back up to normal volume. My girl friend and I turn to each, both white as ghosts! I was like what the hell was that! My friend was looking at us like, what's wrong, he thought it was part of the song! I said, no it's not, and I rewound the tape and played the song again. It played normal and my friends jaw dropped! Weirdest thing! I'll never forget.

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
An old friend took me and two of our female friends to his uncle's cabin near Lake Raystown in Pennsylvania one summer. We went water skiing and then went back to the cabin and had a campfire and stuff. We went into the cabin some time after midnight.

At about 3am, I went out to my car to get my sleeping bag and pillow. I opened my trunk, and the trunk light came on, illuminating everything around me. Other than that, it was pitch black. The nearest other cabin was waaay down the road. I looked around really quickly to see if the light had caught any unsuspecting wildlife in its glow. No luck. But then, as I looked deeper into the forest, I saw what looked to be a man in overalls, about 30 yards away.

This man looked fuzzy, almost out of focus, and he was reflecting back an unusual amount of light, considering there was no light source other than the little light from my trunk. I stared at him, and he seemed to freeze for a moment when he noticed I was looking at him. Then he rushed behind a nearby tree, as if to hide from me. I looked away for a moment, rubbed my eyes and looked back.

Slowly, his head poked out from behind the tree. As soon as he saw I was still looking at him, he jerked his head back behind the tree. I tried so hard to think of a rational explanation for what I was seeing, and I was scared out of my mind. The front door of the cabin was only about 20 yards down the gravel driveway, but I was frozen in place. I blinked and rubbed my eyes one last time, looked back, and sure enough, he was peeking at me from behind the tree and jumped back behind it again when I looked right at him. I finally slammed the trunk shut, grabbed my stuff, and ran into the cabin as fast as I could.

The next morning I went over to the area where I saw the man to see if there were any tracks or a white sheet stuck on a branch or anything that might help explain what I saw. There was nothing there.

I never told those 3 friends what I saw that night. I was embarrassed and thought they would make fun of me. I didn't mention it to anyone until years later.

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
The apartment on the floor above mine had been empty for quite some time. Late one night it dawned on my that I heard the sound of footsteps walking across the floor, making the floorboards creak. After a minute I heard the footsteps come back into the bedroom, then all was quiet the rest of the night. I thought maybe somebody went to the bathroom and then went back to bed, but I found out the apartment was vacant at the time. I continued to hear noises of at least one person moving around up there and so finally I asked the landlord if the apartment was rented. I was told it was not rented and nobody should be in there. A check was done of the room and nothing was found out of the ordinary, no bums sneaking in at night etc., no signs of forced entry. I continued to hear the creaking floorboards in the upstairs apartment until one day they stopped.

When I was 18, I rented a garage "apartment" with no running water, so I had to use the bathroom in the main house. One day I was cleaning the bathroom, standing on top of the toilet to clean the top of the cabinet, when I felt a tug on the hem of my skirt. I looked around and no one was there. I shrugged it off, thinking it was just my imagination, when I felt another even harder tug. Again, nothing was there.

When I mentioned it to my landlady, she just laughed and said, "Oh, that's just Herman. Or at least that's what I call him. Don't worry about it, he's harmless" -- as if it was just the most natural thing in the world!

My parents house in boulder colorado was haunted.

They sold the home about 16 years ago.

My brother and I heard and saw things for years.

The last very scary experience my brother and I had was this:

We were watching tv on a Saturday night and the only ones home. My brother still lived at home and I was just visiting from college.
They had 2 cats at the time.

Well, after it got dark, the cats went wild. They started hissing, spitting at something under the dining room table. The dining room was dark but there was light coming in from the kitchen.
My brother and I jumped up and looked under the table but could not see a thing.
This went on for awhile until we decided to put the cats in another room to calm them down.

As a few hours passed I decided to re check the area. I went around to the dining room.
My parents had a big glass mirror with an etching of a ship on the wall.
As I heard a noise, I turned and looked towards that wall and the mirror.
On the other side of the mirror was a figure , a charred looking thing with big black eyes staring back at me.
It had the form of a human but the outside of it was charred like it had been burned up.
It didn't say anything, just starred at me and dis appeared.!!!

Grew up in a house where things would disappear for days and later be found laying dead center of the living room. My dad's glasses were always put on the table next to his chair and would be across the room under my mother's chair the next morning. Saw shadows all the time.

My sister (no more than 5 at the time) came up with the name "Herman".

A number of years later we were talking to the son of the man who built the house. The builder's brother (the man's uncle) was named Herman.

Crazy coincidence? I have no idea.
 Quoting: Zetetic

Just remembered when something went missing we would ask "Herman" if he had it.
It would often show up shortly afterward.

Again, not sure if it was coincidence, but it was always fun.

Husband said house is full of them, but they are just moving through.
I took a picture of one. I'm just going to link the thread I started about the pictures.
We are both really interested to know from photographers if this could be something else.

I did it... lOl

I live in west Africa
I took an house few years ago but didn't know the owner has been shot there.
Crazy stuff happened there.
- shower in a room getting ON one night out of 4 at 3am sharp (it stopped the day I said loud to the spirit that he could at least switch off the water when finished)
- One night all the Lights of 4 rooms were with constant on and off... creapy
- My son told me he has the sensation of being Watch by someone at the window of his bedroom
- The House had loads of water infiltration issues
- Candles dissapearing in my nannys room (She was scared and used to leave the lights ON when sleeping... no good for my electricity bill... I told her to use candles for a change, but one morning she finds out that no more candles where there)
- Very cold temperature at night in one room, the same room has been closed from the Inside one day.
- We could feel things, seeing shadow of stuff by the corner of the eyes

I asked my kids just before leaving if they did want to hear a scary story. They said yes (we didn't told them what was really happening there the 3 months we've been living in the place)
They did regret their choice big time... lOOOOOOOOOOOlllll

My son was really frightened at the end and tried to make an happy exit and said that Lucky for us, it was not halloween day.
After few second, I realized that actually we were the 31 of october. I swear! That was so funny to see their scary faces... lOl
Precious!
We did last 3 months there, sharing house with the previous owner... the spirit wasn't bad and not mean... Lucky us!

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
Being a nurse, I'm used to "seeing dead people"..no pun intended. I've had a lot of freaky things happen over the years, working the "grave yard" shift at the nursing home, but here's one I'll never forget.

Miss Clara was a sweet little lady. Her room was at the very end of the longest hall in the building...the 400 hall. She had a thing about ringing her call bell all night, like every 20 minutes. Very annoying because it was such a long walk and she usually rang to ask something silly like...what time is it? what's for breakfast? did I take a shower last night? I think she was just very lonely.

One night I came in and saw her bed was empty. Asked the supervisor where she was. "She passed away this morning" was the answer. I was shocked, as she was just fine.... ringing away the night before, but it happens in this business.

About half way through my shift, a call bell rang. I looked up at the board and saw it was the 400 hall. Great! That long walk..ugh. So I get to the hall to see who's call light is on and....it was Miss Clara's room. Got sinking feeling. You know, when you feel your heart in your throat, but I figured it had to be another patient that just wandered in there. Old folks do that sometimes. I went down, turned the corner into the room and...NOTHING. NO ONE WAS THERE.

So, I'm tripping about now and ran back to the nurses station and told my coworkers. They all laughed and said someone probably wandered in there and went back to their room before I arrived. Sounded reasonable to me, right?

15 minutes go by and another call bell. 400 hall. I look down and OMG, Miss Clara's room again. This time I didn't take my eyes off that light and called out to my coworkers. They all saw what I was seeing. The laughing turned to silence, and all 4 of us walked down the hall which seemed to be longer than ever before. We stopped just short of the doorway, looked at each other and all together, went in. NO ONE THERE.

This happened 4 times that night. The next day we reported it to the Director of Nursing who looked at us like we were crazy. She said she would have maintenance check the call bell to see if it was broken or had a short in the wiring.

The following night, I was met by my supervisor at the front door when I arrived. She looked kind of pale.

"They checked Miss Clara's call bell" she said. "Nothing was found".

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
I live near Chickamauga Battlefield in Georgia, which is supposedly haunted. All my life I've heard stories, such as there being a ghost called "Green Eyes" and the figure of a lady searching for her love who had died in battle. I'd never seen or heard anything myself, though. Granted, I had never really spent any time in the park other than a picnic or just driving through. I chalked it up as being "silly ghost stories".

Last year, my husband and I started riding our bikes in the park. We'd often go very early in the morning, when it was still dark.

Things got creepy FAST.

We've both heard, at the same time, the sound of civil war-type drums in the distance, but never could figure out where the sound was coming from.

My camera has zoomed all by itself at the bottom of Snodgrass Hill. Snodgrass Hill is supposedly the most haunted place in the park. When the camera started zooming, I moved my hand away quickly, thinking I might've bumped the zoom button, but it kept zooming all the way to the maximum setting. (It's a 42x zoom, so it takes a couple of seconds for the zoom lens to extend fully.) If I HAD accidentally hit the button, it should have stopped zooming the instant I moved my hand away. But it just kept going! After the camera zoomed all the way and stopped, I (a little weirded out!) took pictures with it still zoomed, thinking maybe someone was trying to get me to take a photo of something. However, it was just before dawn, and the photos were nothing but blackness. The camera had never zoomed by itself before that, and has never done it since.

We've experienced extreme cold spots while riding along on our bikes. It's like suddenly standing in front of an open freezer. The temperature drop is enough to give you cold chills!

I was sitting in the truck on Snodgrass Hill, while DH was taking photos of the monuments nearby. I heard the sound of a lady coming up behind the truck, talking. I assumed she was a jogger and was either chatting with a friend or was talking on the phone. As she neared the truck, within 15' or so, I turned to acknowledge her, and NOBODY WAS THERE. Snodgrass Hill is one way in/out. There was nowhere she could have gone. She just vanished!

I inadvertently snapped a photo of what appeared to be glowing green eyes in a field. The eyes couldn't be seen in person; I was just snapping a photo of the field with the trees in the background. I discovered the eyes when looking at the photos later that morning. There were no animals in the field. The eyes were about the level of a man's eyes. It was probably a trick of the sunlight (the sun was just coming up), but it was still very odd, given the legends about the "Green Eyes" ghost.

In general, I don't believe in ghosts, but I'll admit that these experiences make me wonder!

Just remembered when something went missing we would ask "Herman" if he had it.
It would often show up shortly afterward.

Again, not sure if it was coincidence, but it was always fun.

Oh, my gosh. I posted my story before I read yours. By any chance, do you live near Hawthorne, California?

No. Ours was a Midwest Herman.
40 years later and he still gets blamed for anything missing.

I'm not real big on the ghost thing but I do have a short one:

2 days ago I was having a Skype call with my girlfriend who is visiting CA. While we were having the call, the window behind me slid open (upwards like a normal window). I didn't think much of it as it's happened before.

Later I went to close the window and the second I put my hand on it, the lamp on the night stand exploded as if someone had hit it with a hammer. The light was turned off when it happened too. My girlfriend saw all of it on Skype.

What's funny is that day, I had just finished rearranging the room. Must have pissed off the couch ghost!

Re: Have you ever experienced a ghost or haunting? Share your stories here!
I've had a few experiences but this one is still as clear to me at 53 as it was when it happened in the summer of 1972 when I was 11.
I was in my childhood home back in Mesa Arizona. It was a typical split level 4 bedroom house.
We moved into the house when it was new in 1969 from our old home in Chandler.
My room was the first on the left at the top of the stairs.
Since we moved in I'd wake up at night at times and I swear I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, then just as they got close to the top the footsteps would turn around and go back down the stairs.
At times the dogs would run up the stairs and growl.
After that I'd hear mumbled voices coming from down there.
Everything would quiet down eventually and I'd fall back to sleep.
I'd tell my parents and they'd say it was the A/C or the house settling or my imagination.
Well on that night back in 72 I woke up. The footsteps were going up and down the steps. The dogs came upstairs and into my room.
The footsteps stopped. I had to pee so I got up to go to the bathroom.
I went back to my room and as soon as I got into my bed the footsteps came up the stairs like they were running up.
One of the dogs went running into the hall, I jumped out of bed to go bring her back to my room, (I felt safer with both dogs in my room)I flicked on the hall light when across the landing in the doorway of my sister's room (she was sleeping over a friend's house that night) there was this guy in a black suit and a tan raincoat.
He was solid, I was wide awake and the freakin' light was on. The dogs were growling at him too.
He looked as shocked to see me as I was to see him. He took a few steps towards me as if to grab me when he just faded away.
Like any 11 year old I called for my parents.
They came out and used the "I was dreaming" Shtick. Except I know I was 100% awake. I had just used the bathroom minutes before I saw the guy.
I've asked myself for years who was this guy, what was he doing and why was he wearing a suit and raincoat in the summer in Arizona.
