Any ideas as to the purpose of these barges? It seems odd that the Coast Guard would allow them to just sit out there indefinitely.

What if the reports of something major happening were true? (Comet, Niburu, New Madrid, civil unrest, etc...) Wouldn't it make sense to create data repositories that would have a better chance of surviving anything catastrophic because they aren't land based? If you had the capacity to float them out to sea, they would be much harder to access. Seems that we may be looking at a serious warning...

Just a thought.
