^this.

i finally gave my win 8 away (you can't change the operating system without it crashing later - it will later crash and say that the operating system is not authentic...even if it IS.

so.. now i feel clear again...using win 7. It is a pleasure.

windows 8 is a sick programmed nightmare.

You can delete the adverts. Windows 8 is not as sexy as Windows 7, but it works very well for photos, and the web.

Didn't I say previously that I don't use Win8?

I don't give two shits what you can delete from this shit OS.

but get this, you pay a bunch of money (about $200) for the latest operating system,
you get forced to sign up with Microsoft (NSA account) to just log in to your PC,
then you are bombarded with commercial crap instead of a normal Desktop.

let me repeat that:
you pay money to get advertisements flying at your face.

or you just download win 8.1 for free. but still that only flips between the two forms of desktop. YOU DONT NEED A WINDOWS BUTTON ANYMORE! there are much faster ways now to access anything on your pc. rendering the windows button useless.

Just returned a brand new Toshiba laptop with Windows 8 after 2 weeks. Painfully slow for an almost $1000 machine. Windows 8 is a hog. Would rather wait and save the extra for a new macbook. And another thing...it censors information. I google 'parse syntax grammar' on windows 8, NO results. exact same search on the mac full of results, both using firefox. I couldn't believe it! That search is a very controversial subject and deserves its own thread.

Re: Windows 8 is a commercially bloated adware scam.
I ordered a bunch of desktops for work - 30 to be exact. They were all i7's, 32gig ram, 1t drive, etc, etc. I had requested the local Dell rep to have Windows 7 installed. We had 20 delivered with Windows 7, and 10 with Windows 8. OK - whatever (I thought life is ok); this is when it first came out.

Things that pissed or irritated:

1. 3 of the machines had died right away - before delivery to the user due to bad drives. Dell sent new drives via 2 day air. OK, so we had a Windows 8 ISO - we reinstalled and attempted to use the License Key printed on the Dell label affixed to the box. No Bueno. Apparently the key AND the image fingerprints to the machine via UEFI bios. After MANY attempts from IT - Dell finally sent us a "special" flash drive that would install just those machines.

2. Our company tracks internet usage for various legal and gov related reasons. We found that traffic was double and triple for the people that received the Win 8 boxes. After uninstalling the always updating tiles for Stocks, Weather reports in Scotland (we are in the US), etc - there was still a problem. Also miffed that we couldn't uninstall MS Store - if we thought we did, upon reboot it was back.

3. There are some people that enjoy a clean desktop - yes, I know this can be purely an esthetic issue - however, there are people so organized that it disrupts functional use. Big ass tiles all over were not welcomed.

4. No training at all for Windows 8. It was simply - "Here is the new thing - now figure it out yourself and fuck off" - this is something I was told by our CEO.

5. Tiles again, finding apps wasn't always successful - and again - the tiles didn't help.

6. We have a software development team that works in C/C++, VB, C#, Java, even Assembly, etc, etc (18 different languages) - depending on the project. Some of our software built in Windows 7 would NOT run in Windows 8.. we had to jump through serious hoops and provide numerous installation/configuration walkthroughs to clients to get some of them running. Which took us hundreds of ours to figure out via reading documents on MSDN and contacting MS ourselves.

7. After we thought we had Windows 8 under control as far as internet communication - WireShark had proven that there is a SHIT TON more going on that we couldn't stop. There is one instance that when we found and tried to stop the service causing the communication, the system went into a 60 second countdown to reboot.. which resulted in the service up again (though we but it on manual).

We have reverted those machines to Windows 7 on a Volume Key we have. We also do virtual machine via Tux - Ferdora. Our public servers are Red Hat.

Win7 and XP are still being used by most companies....and for good reason.
....Win 8 is GARBAGE beyond all GARBAGE.

Win8 is non-intuitive, non-PC compliant, paradigm changing clusterf*ck based soley on Microsoft making money....not improving the user experience.

....and let's not even go into the "cloud" crap that it is linked too....probably with the NSA as well.

If you're using Windows in 2013, you deserve everything you get.
Adverts, direct line to the NSA, crashes, bugs, virus, trouble, blue screens, complications, problems, bloatware, malware, frustration, disappointment, depression, and despair.

You should know better by now.

BTW - I called our Dell reps in for a meeting to discuss issues, and they brought a Higher Up in. He was flown in from Corp. I asked point blank - "Is Windows 8 a viable corporate option?". I was also told point blank, that in no way shape or form is it. Also told that Dell has a contract to push W8 - however, since we spend millions with them each year (we just finished also having Dell fit all our locations with multiple 20T San systems) they were honest with the information.

I guess for personal use, W8 is viable - however, since I bring work home, it will never be on my work or home machines.

Default "Bing search" on Win8 serves advertisements based on the content of a users PERSONAL FILES.

There are far too many "First-things-to-do-after-installing-windows8" for home users to bother. The inherent insecurity of Windows8 makes it a poor choice for small business owners.

using win 8 for actual work plain sucks.

the way it displays pdf dysfunctional shit

you have to buy a yearly office subscription for word processing

many many programs that work on all of the other windows versions DON'T work on win 8

the way the win 8 system works, diverts much more of your info toward data collection for big bro

even after you install the start menu...it STILL won't let you get to ALL of your programs until you actually get in and search them.

it diverts you from using any programs except those that are the most current...
