TEPCO to conduct fuel rod removal test for Fukushima reactor No. 4

In light of the impending fuel rod removal from the 3 molten down reactor cores at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power facility, operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) can probably consider the fuel removal from the No. 4 reactor core – the only one that didn’t suffer a meltdown when the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami hit – as a good opportunity to practice. ... delayed actual fuel removal by two weeks... tests first before... fuel removal operation...

The decision comes after Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization, called for an initial test operation, including transporting a protective fuel cask from the storage pool to another pool in a different building about 100 meters away... The agency also urged TEPCO to have the test evaluated by a group of Japanese and overseas experts recommended by the International Research Institute for Nuclear Decommissioning, a Tokyo-based organization founded by Japanese government agencies, nuclear facility manufacturers and electric power companies.

The more dangerous affair will be extracting the radioactive fuel rods from the three molten down cores, where a small mistake might become the spark that starts a whole new nuclear disaster on its own... the United States Department of Energy has signed on to help with the risky process.

...TEPCO... has a string of high-profile incidents with power outages and radioactive waste water leaks have ... convinced the Japanese public that TEPCO cannot be trusted with this dangerous process by itself.

CP, thanks again for the updates. What's your gut feeling CP, do you think they will screw up or they will succeed. Maybe with the US now involved, maybe they will not screw up. I seem to be lacking intuition on this one, but the whole operation scares the heck out of me, much more than ISON or anything else.

Before I reply, and it falls off... check this thread, as I think it is one of the most important data updates about Fuku vs Chernobyl 'ever'... i'd hate to see it get lost....

Thread: New Fukushima Radiation Release Estimates Compiled: Chernobyl TRUMPED by Fuku, and estimated releases are 80% of entire potential...

There are two thoughts I have regarding the fuel:

1. They WILL fuck it up, they can't do this unprecedented shit without doing so.
2. We won't here about it, as I was told by a TEPCO employee... the place over Unit 4 is now shielded from view, and it's as likely as tits on a bull that we will have camera access internally.

The US involvement?... thank god...

I would add that the Russians should be involved as well as the Australians and Canadians (no-thanks to our Uranium mining), but still useful right now.

The US should be engaged in the financial processing of where and who funding goes to and ferret out the Yakuza and TEPCO and the Government for crimes against humanity.

The US should further surreptitiously take over the entire damn cluster-fuck....

I am assuming that Dr Suzuki has come on board for this eventuality of the Americans giving more information than the Japanese... but the inverse could happen as well....
Thread: Dr David Suzuki finally speaks on the imminent dangers at Fukushima!

In the end... I hope we all have our decedents see the other side of this... but here is NOT a good example that our prodigy will remember us by....
