Palin would probably be seen as too socially liberal by some in the GOP. Then there's just as much (well maybe not quite) in her closet as Clinton's. The lesbian relationship she had at college (did she ever even actually deny that?) and the whole issue about the exact parentage of one of her kids come to mind.

Palin a liberal?
I don't know what they print in the UK but she is far more conservative than any of the other members of the GOP. She identifies with the common man, has a soft spot for kids with disabilities, yet speaks with a a very clear message to Iran.
She is down to earth and has not changed her core values just to get a vote.
The problem is that she can not be swayed by the wealthy ruling class to do their bidding and that pisses them off.
So they have to find little tidbits and blow them out of proportion (like the college lesbian story)
Who gives a shit if she went down on a chick as a co-ed?
And rumors of infidelity....really?
