He has been firing nuclear generals and high-ranking military officials left and right. Don't you think he could resurrect his fallen stature by staging/letting a nuke go off in the USA, then saying "I tried my best to clean up this mess these right-wing generals made, but I couldn't rid our military of enough of them in time, because of the Tea Party, Christians, or (insert conservative group here) standing in my way"?

Seems like a pretty solid case and a plausible scenario to make him look like the victor, on his way to a third term...
