Pipefitting is more of an industrial trade.

Why can't you do it yourself?

It isn't difficult to do.

Plumber or a pipefitter who works with copper a lot.

We putting an addition on an apartment complex we own. Probably 1-2 months of work.

Plumbers sweat copper pipe on a daily basis in a residential setting.

I'm a tradesman who works beside pipefitters on a daily basis. Trust me call a plumber if you're having house plumbing issues.

Call around and get quotes from several plumbing companies and always hire a licensed bonded and insured contractor!!

Neither can braze fer shit.

Or blend for that matter.....

Plumber with take a few minutes to make up a soldered joint.

Once saw a nice Africa chap who had installed his range cooker by himself.

He was shocked to be told that a finger tight joint with electrical tape wrapped around it wasn't considered safe in the UK.

I'd recommend PVC but your friend sounds like a potential glue sniffer.

He'd be a glue sniffing angel if he'd been a smoker.

That's pretty cool, compression fittings. I bet they are quite expensive. Especially the crimping tool.

Personally I'd rather do it myself. Copper is REALLLLY easy to work with. Clean/scratch ALL joints/fittings, use lots of flux wherever you want solder to stay and a good torch (M.A.P. gas) over propane.
If your job is big enough it'd be worthwhile to invest in the basic tools (pipe cutter, scratch brushes and cloth, torch, channel lock pliers-2 pair and a small selection of your common fittings) Great to have on hand for emergency repairs. If you've don't have the time/confidence and have the $$ call a (reputable) plumber. If I remember correctly, the guy I worked for 20 years ago charged like $10.00 each for every installed fitting. (Not very reputable or so I thought) I'd always use less parts on invoice than I actually used.

Engineer here, yup get a plumber they are required to test
skills sweat soldering copper pipe.
