One case stands out vividly. I was working in an Endocrinology unit at that stage, that was attached to a urinary ward. This young woman was admitted to the ward next to ours with extreme abdominal pain. She was not overweight, had not stopped having 'periods'. The docs were checking her out for kidney stones, that can be horrendously painful. Long story shortened. About 30 minutes after she was admitted, she gave birth to a very healthy babe. Can't remember the weight. Much to the shock of the new mother, her family and the docs. ;) Happens. |
