Very easy for day to day. But just like anything you can make it as difficult as you want. There is a learning curve if you want to get down to nitty gritty.

And Linux is free and open source! I recommend putting it on a live usb...that way you don't make any changes to your system. And test drive it and any other linux distribution you want. Then you can learn and use without making any changes!
