You need a medium for these reactions to occur. Maybe it is just the color of particles given off by the comet. The color is easier explained by particle color in light from the suns energetic particles. |

This is the First Sign: We are told of the coming of the white-skinned men, like Pahana, but not living like Pahana, men who took the land that was not theirs. And men who struck their enemies with thunder. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Last Edited by CØNFØRM on 11/09/2013 07:27 PM |

Yes, the solar wind is a near vacuum, but even the smallest amount of matter it has will create enough detectable energy when annihilated by antimatter. |

Astronomers usually explain a comet's color by the kind of elements or materials present in the comet, so a comet changing its color is something that can't be explained by them. |

Yes, the solar wind is a near vacuum, but even the smallest amount of matter it has will create enough detectable energy when annihilated by antimatter. OKie Dokie; re read the paper you put up. You need a dense medium for this type of radiation to occur. And you have just agreed that the solar wind is a near vacuum. I do not understand where the anti matter you are discussing is coming from. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39527304 Comets have been called hairy or bearded stars since ancient Greece. I believe the Chinese had a similar term. So any comet can be a bearded star. But in the case of ISON, it has a more meaningful application. Some astronomers are now saying ISON behaves more like a solid object than a fluffy comet. And now, I am saying it is emitting its own light (Cherenkov radiation), just like a star would. |
