I didn't always feel that way, but many things have become clear to me over the years: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25614089 -The drug war is a destructive, expensive scam. -Marijuana is far less harmful than alcohol. You don't see potheads raising hell, or even driving under the influence. -Marijuana IS a valid pain reliever for those with crippling sickness or injury. I've seen this first hand. It is criminal that the government is able to ban a medicinal plant that would ease the terrible pain people suffer. -A major reason for the false hysteria is that hemp is far superior to wood and more versatile as a manufacturing material. It is cheap and easy to grow. But the hysteria is dying down, slowly but surely. We very well may see a reversal of the current laws in our lifetimes. Let's all hope. They do, it's just that driving while high is not that big of a deal for someone who smokes often. Most stoners drive a little slower and are often zoned into driving. However, I would say that they are more easily distracted that your average driver. |

Lucky Charms User ID: 49858696 Ireland 11/12/2013 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why stop at pot? Why not then legalize Krokodil?, heroin?, LSD?, methamphetamine? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49830518 Yes... why not? Do you even know why these substances are illegal in the first place? I doubt it. Let me tell you something, the law is not any kind of deterrent. People who want to use heroin are going to use it, they don't seem to care that it's illegal... because THEY'RE USING IT! Likewise if it was legal do you think people who don't use heroin are suddenly going to rush out and start chasing the dragon? I wouldn't... and I smoke pot (disclaimer: in places it's legal... yeah... snicker). My point is one that we all know... prohibition DOESN'T WORK. All it does is provide fodder for your criminal justice system and private prisons, the war on drugs is nothing but a "tough on crime" platform that gets rolled out for election time. Legalize all drugs, free ALL non violent prisoners. The US has the highest prison population on Earth... 5% of the worlds population... yet holds 25% of it's prisoners? Can you say POLICE STATE? All because of the so called war on drugs, a war that has seen billions upon billions of taxpayers money pissed away while drug use remains virtually unchanged since... well, since forever. Anonymous Coward User ID: 49531429 United States 11/12/2013 11:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why is it that some people enjoy it so much and other people get paranoid on it?.... I think if I got cancer I would do it though. For some people, the paranoia is more or less something that you initially experience when you first start smoking and then you become acclimated to the sensations created by smoking and learn how to relax and enjoy yourself in that state. In other words it's someting that you work past or overcome. For other people, they tend to continue to experience paranoia and that could be more so a reflection of their current state of being or personality. I would say cannabis can tend to enhance or amplify feelings that already exist within you - so if you are a paranoid or anxious person by nature, then it's likely that smoking would facilitate those feelings being experienced and bring them to the surface. Something else to consider, there are different 'types' of cannabis plants. Sativa/Indica. Sativa strains are known for giving you a cerebal and mentally energetic 'high' (so these might not be ideal for someone who is prone to anxious/nervous thoughts), Indica strains are known for producing a body 'high' (and less of a mental/cerebral high) - they are typically ideal for pain management and tend to make people more lethargic or just want to sit around and rest/relax. Then there are 'hybrid' strains which are the result of crossbreeding between sativa/indica strains to achieve a combination of the desired effects that two different strains might have to offer. |
