Well chalk up another unsigned red. LOL

It is hard to make the leap to believe in an order created; I do understand that. Certainly do not many answers; no one does. I remember praying with everyone else in Fire fights in Nam; but it was only a superstition then and backed by no faith. It wasn't until working as a Nurse Practitioner in a Portland ICU that I saw miracles and had no answer to explain what had occurred. Read a lot and had an answer and made the leap to the belief in Christ. It was actually much easier to believe in God; the faith in Christ took a few more years.
It is sometimes fun to argue and cajole; However it is more important to Christ that others know him.

I also believe that part of the great deception will be the great falling away of faith and belief in Jesus Christ...He will be the target of mock and ridicule...as we now see manifesting in the 'civilized' world.
 Quoting: daughter in NYC

There certainly have been ups and downs in how much of the world hates the name of Jesus. Even in the days of the apostles there were "wolves" arising from among the churches. But with the possible exception of the dark ages, I honestly don't think there's been this much universal contempt for all things holy... at least not on this side of the Flood. And it's this palpable darkness and evil sweeping over the globe that tells me how close we are to the end.

This is why we have to know how to express the gospel in the simples possible terms; not joining churches and listening to sermons, but living and breathing what we believe, and knowing the gospel from all the things that have been tacked on over the centuries. It is time for people to simply choose which of two kingdoms they want to be citizens of forever. And it's my hope that in spite of all the opposition, this video I shared (and those shared by others) will help people make that pivotal choice.

 Quoting:

There really is a lot of superstition even among churchgoers; always has been. People say we don't need to use words but just live so people will ask us why we have peace. But the scriptures do tell us to use words, and very clear words: that it is Jesus alone who set aside his privileges as God to become one of us, die for us, and rise up from the dead. This is the one and only Name by which anyone can be saved.

Yeah, we can also learn to sharpen our own understanding by engaging in debate. But doctrine and spirit must balance. Doctrine alone is like a ship stuck on land, and spirit alone is like a ship at sea with no rudder or anchor. But put them both together and you really go places.

I don't believe 'Nachash' is a serpent. I think Eve experienced kundalini, the rising of the energy(serpent)energy up to the pineal gland and the way was blocked by the 'gods' that turned Adam and Eve away "Lest they become one of us and know right from wrong". Obviously a fall took place and Adam and Eve then had sex and started the bloodline with their human seed. As the speaker stated, he believed 'Nachash' could be all three-divine,shining, and serpent. I do not dispute that the Elohim could be lesser gods or aliens. Once the Adamu came to a material level, instead of spiritual, they could reproduce. I don't see Nachash as being a literal serpent, but it is the name used numerous times for serpent throughout the bible, which is associated with evil moreso than divine and shining.

Also, we see the Cobra serpent frequently in the Egyptian symbolism in the head region representing the divine energy at the pineal gland. The rising of the energy up to the pineal gland is the serpent energy.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49490990

Regardless of whether 'nachash' is taken as a verb, a noun, or an adjective, it refers to a being, not a force or power. This 'nachash' speaks to Eve and deceives her, and then God confronts and curses him, speaking also of his 'seed'. All of this indicates an intelligent being, which kundalini is not.

Also note that Adam and Eve were told to "be fruitful and multiply" before the encounter with the 'nachash'. So they were physical before they sinned.

Of course, I don't accept the Hindu or other non-Biblical views anyway. But the text is clear that the 'nachash' was a sentient being, and that Adam and Eve were physical before encountering him.

This helps no one. Not only can't I be sure what thread you're even referring to or who you are, you offer nothing as evidence that the charge is even true. Who have I ridiculed that even pretended to be a Christian? And why say nothing to those who assault me and others in my thread in sometimes the most vulgar terms? How does THAT look to non-believers? And why is it okay for YOU to ridicule and belittle ME?

All you've done, anonymous judge and jury, is confirm the truth of this thread and show unbelievers that some Christians will throw their own kind under a bus and fawn over the packs of wolves. That's YOU, by the way. If you were a Christian yourself, you'd have first come to me PRIVATELY. If you're going to judge and condemn me, at least have the backbone to identify yourself.

I repeat:
A God, requires and creates, order from chaos.
A fractal is a good example of why there is no God. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems – this is Chaos.
Contrary to your assertion, chaos is very meaningful,it shows the wonder of fractals and the absence of God
Fractals negate God Q.E.D. There is no God.

I have an undergraduate degree in math, and a master's degree in engineering from Columbia. You have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Fractals ARE order. You can derive a complete fractal from one equation. That is without a doubt order. That is the exact opposite of randomness or chaos.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5431311

Dear sir / madam

While I do not agree with Intothelights demeanor,he is 100% correct in his statement. I would expect better behavior and a more considered response from someone claiming to have obtained a mathematics’ undergraduate degree.

Fractals are geometric shapes that are infinitely detailed. You can zoom in on a section and it will have just as much detail as the whole fractal. To think of fractals for a function f(x) is to consider x, f(x), f(f(x)), f(f(f(x))), f(f(f(f(x)))), etc. Fractals are related to chaos because they are complex systems that have definite properties.
You are only seeing the recursive pattern of a fractal and extrapolating that for a complex system. This is an assumption and poor science.

1. Chaotic systems are partly deterministic. This means they have some determining equation ruling their behavior.

2. Chaotic systems are very sensitive to the initial conditions. A very slight change in the starting point can lead to enormously different outcomes. This makes the system unpredictable.

On a very simple level, clouds are fractals in a closed system, therefore by your argument, we should be able to predict their behavior. We can predict the possible fractal design of the cloud, but we can’t predict the clouds behavior. Why? Unpredictability.
We can never know all the initial conditions of a complex system in sufficient (i.e. perfect) detail, we cannot hope to predict the ultimate fate of a complex system. Even slight errors in measuring the state of a system will be amplified dramatically, rendering any prediction useless. Since it is impossible to measure the effects of all the butterflies (etc) in the World, accurate long-range weather prediction will always remain impossible.

As for your intelligent design argument, this is an attempt by religious people to validate their belief system. It does not add to your credibility.

Are fractals Gods work? Ask a philosopher.

Rather than laughing at something you clearly have a very limited understanding of, you have only demonstrated your ignorance.

Listen hard, you may learn something.

what were a few of the discussion points that you found the most interesting/fascinating?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21305908

I really need to watch it again, but right now I'd say his meticulous definition of terms from all possible angles is the key to unlocking points of debate on those items I lsted above.

For example, he believes the Nephilim are not the Watchers, who are not the Giants. Also, he points out that the "sons of God, daughters of men" were not cases of rape but voluntary arrangements by both the women and their fathers. They knowingly interbred with non-humans.

He believes that the phrase Jesus used in Mat. 24 as one of the conditions for the end times, "marrying and giving in marriage", is a rarely-used expression for these very kinds of interbreeding, not normal human marriages.

The lecturer also explains that many of the nations God had Israel wipe out were composed of hybrids. The back drop is that when God scrambled the languages of people at the Tower of Babel, he defined the limits or borders of their lands "according to the number of the Sons of God"... NOT the sons of Israel, as some translations render it. In other words, God was saying to the world, "You want to worship these 'gods'? Fine. I will lay out their lands and you can serve them instead of me. But I will reserve a land for myself, my people, Israel."

This is why they are the "chosen people" and why they had to remain separate. This is why the other nations, ruled over by malevolent entities, have always sought to wipe Israel off the map. And this is why those who give their allegiance to malevolence are always at odds with anyone who gives their allegiance to God.

For those who asked for this thread to be pinned:

It seems like for this one, or the one about that poor woman in the armed services, or anything else that really matters, this board has a different agenda and instead pins things like "Rich man buys house next to ex-wife, erects giant middle finger outside...LMAO!" and "Dolphin self masturbates with beheaded fish".

So a good conspiracy is to keep noting which kinds of topics get the red pins. Very interesting.

More about fractals

'A fractal is an object or quantity that displays self-similarity, in a somewhat technical sense, on all scales. The object need not exhibit exactly the same structure at all scales, but the same "type" of structures must appear on all scales. A plot of the quantity on a log-log graph versus scale then gives a straight line, whose slope is said to be the fractal dimension. The prototypical example for a fractal is the length of a coastline measured with different length rulers. The shorter the ruler, the longer the length measured, a paradox known as the coastline paradox. '

Re: Cosmic Turf War: You'll never see the Old Testament the same again
A summary, which I intend to keep posting (and bumping my own thread) so that new visitors to the thread will know that it's not about fractals. Enjoy.

============================================================

The speaker debunks the "serpent seed" theory as arising mostly out of rabbinical/Talmudic misogyny than anything else. There is no backing in the Biblical text for Eve bearing children with the serpent (or as the speaker says, "serpentine being"), esp. since the text states point blank that Eve bore Cain from Adam.

Also, he shows that someone named Gardener who teaches the "serpent seed" theory, deliberately omitted a large portion of the verse he quotes to make his claim.

(So much for the charge of this talk being "Zionist", since the speaker dismisses the Talmud.)

This is on the first 20 min. of the talk. I will try to post something about each 20 min.

============================================================

The 2nd 20 min. continues details regarding the "serpent seed" argument, then toward the end of that segment he covers more on the "sons of God, daughters of men" issue. He argues that the voluntary nature of the unions is how the Biblical focus on blaming humans for the sin leading to the Flood can be reconciled with the book of Enoch's blame on "the watchers". In other words, the blame is shared.

Also, he briefly touches on the phrase "and afterwards", referring to the giants. Some question how the giants could be on the earth after the Flood which was designed to wipe them out, and they speculate that maybe Noah or one of his sons or their wives had giant DNA. But this speaker believes instead that it was a simple case of the Watchers picking up where they had left off, since the Bible specifies that Noah "was perfect in his generations", meaning he was fully human. This is covered more in the next segment, as I recall.

There are some interesting implications from this. As the speaker explains, these beings were also called Titans by non-Jewish people. I believe this explains the belief in ancient mythological beings such as the Greek pantheon. And this would mean that the Watchers, who according to the NT "had left their proper realm", had not been imprisoned in Tartarus until this second defiling of mankind.

============================================================

Third 20 min. segment notes:

-- Nephilim does not mean "fallen ones" or even "sons of God, but "giants", the hybrid human/Watcher offspring.

-- Many theologians "strip mine" all the supernatural from the Bible, so they dismiss out of hand any and all evidence for any supernatural beings beyond God and Satan.

-- Also goes over a text telling of an argument between Lamech and his wife over whether Noah was his son or whether she had been fooling around with Watchers; she finally has him go ask Enoch, who apparently vouched for her.

-- Says Nimrod was a giant, and many believe he was the instigator of the building of the Tower of Babel.

-- On Gnosticism: Only the non-Jews considered the Watchers/Nephilim the "good guys", and the speaker thus calls it "Watcher theology". This is the source of the Luciferian claim that Lucifer and realted entities are the real good gods and Elohim/YHWY is the bad one.

-- Begins to explain the two lines: serpentine and godly, evil and good, seed of Satan and seed of the woman.
============================================================

Final 20 min. segment notes:

-- After the Flood, God had simply said "Be fruitful and multiply", but eventually people decided to not spread out but build a tower and sit in one place. This led to God setting up national boundaries by language "according to the number of the 'sons of God'" (Septuagint [Greek] text). That is, God was giving people what they wanted: to be ruled by the Watchers according to their territories. This is the origin of the concept of regional gods in ancient mythology. The Watchers had given humans technology in exchange for being worshiped as gods.

-- But God reserved one territory for himself: the Promised Land. And he selected Abraham, then Isaac, and Jacob, to produce a nation separate from all the rest, purely human and worshiping the one true God. This is NOT the "Zionism" of the Kabbalists, rabbis, or Talmudists, but a people and land that God reserves as a thorn in the flesh of the Watchers and their people.

-- Now you know why God was completely justified in having his people wipe out every last living thing in the territory God had selected for his own (which included a group whose name meant "serpentine" as well as some giants). This is one reason why everybody hates the Jews and wants to conquer the land of Israel. But keep in mind that regardless of the condition or origin of the modern state of Israel, it is God's land, and those who are genetically descended from Jacob are God's people. They have been punished for faithlessness before, and they will be punished again.

-- Interesting perspective on the account of Naaman and his going to Elisha to be healed of leprosy. After his healing, he asked to take a bag of dirt from Israel back to his homeland, a seeming bizarre request. But think of it in light of the previous discussion about territory. He wanted to stand on it when forced to bow to the gods of his country.

-- The valley of the Rephaim was the origin of the name Gehenna, and aptly described the Hebrew concept of "hell": a place of frightening beings and certain doom. The people of Jesus' day used it also to describe their always-burning garbage dump, but that was not the origin of the name or the concept.

I think OP is going to blow a fuse.He karma pins his own threads, what a LOSER!
here are some more fractal facts

A fractal is a mathematical set that has a fractal dimension that usually exceeds its topological dimension[1] and may fall between the integers.[2] Fractals are typically self-similar patterns, where self-similar means they are "the same from near as from far".[3] Fractals may be exactly the same at every scale, or, as illustrated in Figure 1, they may be nearly the same at different scales.[2][4][5][6] The definition of fractal goes beyond self-similarity per se to exclude trivial self-similarity and include the idea of a detailed pattern repeating itself.[2]:166; 18[4][7]
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Although mathematical fractals contain an infinite level of detail with 'real world' fractals this is not the case, for example you can magnify the view of a coastline and at first there will be major estuaries and larger bays. Further magnification will reveal smaller estuaries and bays then down to coves and inlets and finanlly individual rocks and pebbles. At some point further magnification causes the previously observed fractal structure to breakdown. Fractals in the natural world are subject to this sort of limit. However because they have fractal structure over a range of scales fractal techniques can be used to successfully model them.
