Anonymous Coward User ID: 49544116 New Zealand 11/13/2013 04:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | and that's what am complaining about. are you stupid? if as plane can go to Philippines this sooner, why didn't they load it up with some food? I don't care what FEMA did. this'd is stupid. if God doesn't destroy us for being evil, we will annihilate ourselves anyway Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49709313 USMC has been delivering food & water. Have friends that were dispatched with relief supplies. The empty planes are because there is barely any fuel, so the planes are fueled up from the US bases, fly empty to save fuel for evacuating the US citizens and families. It is all about having that fuel to get US citizens so that they won't strain the recovery efforts. Other planes are being sent with supplies. Until fuel services are restored, planes have to have enough fuel to make a return trip. So some are delivering relief supplies and marines, others are coming empty to evacuate people. Also some smaller planes are being flown empty to do search and rescue. Until fuel is restored, relief is limited and people are going to continue to suffer. USMC Relief effort: [link to news.yahoo.com] "In Tacloban, dozens of American marines arrived on Monday afternoon aboard two US military C-130 transport planes packed with relief supplies, and expressed shock after receiving a bird's eye view of the carnage. "Roads are impassable, trees are all down, posts are down, power is down... I am not sure what else is there. I am not sure how else to describe this destruction," Brigadier General Paul Kennedy, the commanding general of the Okinawa-based 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, told reporters. The Marine Corps said another 90 troops were on their way, tasked with conducting a humanitarian assistance survey. The US troops were the most visible sign of a major international relief effort that had only just begun and could last for years, with aid agencies likening the scale of the destruction to the 2010 Haiti earthquake that killed tens of thousands. Anonymous Coward User ID: 35463533 United Kingdom 11/13/2013 05:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is self centred interest. Priority of any government is protection of its own citizens, IF they are abroad and there is no financial or political gain. It comes down to this, what is in it for them? The humanity side of the question is a different matter there are other parts of the system of government that will deal with the this. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 42369171 Brazil 11/13/2013 08:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see... so US can give away military jets but not water/food for the Philippinos. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42369171 The USA does not give away jets to the Firubines. I know that... I meant give away military jets for certain peaceful Africa and Middle East countries. |

Obama couldn't care less if you got bashed by typhoon. they are quick to go on TV and make huge promises when they know hunger and homelessness are time sensitive. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 49812480 Belgium 11/13/2013 08:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | look the philippine governement knew that the typhoon would hit like a week or more did they knew. So why didn't the governement do something about that? Like evacuating people, get the army ready, stockpilling food,... The US is doing what i can do (they are sending ships that can clean the water there and sending supplies). So in this whole thing there is 1 to blame. The corrupt Philippine governement who failed to prepare when they had all the time in the world. (Sorry for my bad english) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 47893151 United States 11/13/2013 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, no,no. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Everyone offered "they" just turned away all the quick initial help. "They" are idiots. More lives could have been saved but as usual that is never the goal. I remember even Canada willing to fly over immediately after it happened and assist and being told "no".....Canada....geeze like they could hurt a flea. No we have to organize/coordinate every rescue now days which takes time and lives instead of placing boots on the ground and letting humans do their best work. |
