dems are scared of losing their elections now, and i saw what the dems were proposing for a so called fix and it was total bullshit a bandaid on a mortal wound,they just think they can pass some bs that wont help anything and then they can say they tried to do something. this thing needs a complete overhaul, they need to start from scratch. get rid of all the mandates and all the bullshit govt required coverages they have forced on the people, like single men having to buy contraception coverage, child dental care, and drug rehab,and mental care,all the stuff the majority of americans will never use and never need but they are making everyone pay for. all i will ever need for insurance is emergency care coverage thats it. i dont need this other bullshit, if i want to see a doctor i will pay out of pocket, i only need insurance for major surgeries and accidents.

Insuring healthcare is such a lucrative business, eh? Then why have so many quality carriers NEVER gotten into it, or sold their entire business entity in the past 30yrs?

Very difficult to make money in healthcare operations. At best, a carrier gets Cash-Flow from premium stream, but that is not really a moneymaker...

Premium in a fully-funded or even self-funded operation has to cover Claims Admin, Actual Insurance, and Claims Cost. More complex plans have greater admin cost. Insurer always has stop-loss insurance costs for ea insured and ea group. If fully-insured, they have stop-loss coverage for the entire "book of business" or each category/type of book.

Only variable can be semi-controlled is the Claims Payment & Plan Admin section. It is the smallest portion of expense.


Very few Life Carriers even offer any health coverage. Some small and specialty carriers offer 3rd Party Admin stop-loss coverages, but these are very few in number, comparatively.



From my perspective, both Dems & Reps were paid-off to allow this abomination to pass. Govt could have created a pool to fund large claims and remove the huge, multi-million dollar per-person risk for lifetime benefit payment from the carriers and returned the market to Buyer's Choice and insured pre-exists on several levels. Woulda made some sense...

Instead, they destroyed the market, caused millions of job terminations by employers unable to comply, and sowed ruin among the Medical Industry as a whole.
