This probably won't reflect well on me for inquiring but those deductible amounts ($$$) that are being thrown out there for various ACA 'plans' - does an individual have to pay out of pocket for all types up care/treatment up until that amount - or only for specific or certain types of services?

Typically deductables are monies you pay before any insurance monies are paid.

Meaning, every bill (office visit, xrays, procedure, EVERYTHING) is paid by you until the limit of the duductable is reached. Only at that time will the insurance monies kick in.

And the salt in the wound... it resets every year.

My current employer plan has a 3k deduct. Until i spent all that nothing is paid for by the insurance

It is my understanding that it is for everything up to that amount. Of the few hospitals that accept Obamacare, most are requiring the full payment of the deductible up front before they will admit or render services.

So, if you have to go to the hospital, it will cost the deductible, co-pay & percentage you are required to pay. Could be an enormous amount & this is on top of the lofty monthly premiums.

At that rate it will take those just in the state of CA that have lost their plans over a year to sign up.

What a fucking mess.

My prediction, insured population will plummet to a modern time low by this time next year.

I can only imagine how many Americans are not in a position to afford these monthly premiums in addition the high deductible amounts.

The law requires insurance to cover certain things, people and conditions regardless of the plan. It they want to 'fix it', they have to rewrite the law. They cannot mandate that insurance companies reinstate the old plans, even as they were. The price must go up to pay for this pre-paid healthcare mess. Note: it's not insurance since they took out the actuary component.

I have a relative, whom is married to a naturalized woman. Her mother lives with him, who is NOT a citizen and must travel back to her home country every so often, is 100% FUCKING INSURED BY MEDICAID!!! She doesn't work, has never worked and gets a fucking hall pass.

I on the other hand and royally fucked. With the sky high monthly premiums that are rising faster than an atlas rocket and the outrageous monthly deductibles, I can't even afford basic sick insurance. I'm above the income threshold so me get no tax breaks. On top that, the penalties I pay go to the fucking mother that is not even a FUCKING CITIZEN! WTF

That's what it sounds like... You pay and then have to pay even more when you actually need to utilize the 'plan' you've already been paying for.

Meanwhile the lifeforce of the system, Consumerism, is dying/fading. People having even less money in their pockets to purchase goods/services will ensure that process is expedited. Those who lose their jobs will be mandated to purchase this coverage and it will perpetuate the downward spiral even further.

Basically that number includes people who were putting things in their "shopping cart"....like you would shopping at Amazon.
It's not the actual number of signups who have PAID.

Therefore the number will be SUBSTANTIALLY LESS.....they were just shoppers.

Yes, the numbers breakdown would be interesting to know (and we will never get an honest answer). Altho I think it would be safe to assume that the ones signing up aren't the ones who lost their insurance but those who have preexisting, very low income and the Medicaid people - people who aren't paying into it or paying little into it.
