Switzerland is a true democracy. They have referendums in each province on any subject people want to call for.

It is up to the Swiss citizens (or their elected representatives) to decide what is good or bad for their country we are no one to judge what they should or should not do.

The same is valid for every sovereign nation.

Very few know this. Besides, most popular symbols have been abused.

I think the svastika was a symbol of the Hindus and the Nazis had it reversed.

Re: Swiss decide not to ban Nazi symbols
the swastika symbol is not really from
the nazis

it was in use long before any reich
started

it's origins came from buddhism
and shamanism

long before Jesus ever walked Galilee

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used
for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient
Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery
and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was
a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE.

During the following thousand years, the image of the
swastika was used by many cultures around the world,
including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe.
By the Middle Ages, the swastika was a well known,
if not commonly used, symbol but was called by many
different names:

China - wan
England - fylfot
Germany - Hakenkreuz
Greece - tetraskelion and gammadion
India - swastika

the swastika just became an icon used by
a dictator

it was in existence 3,000 yrs before Hitler
was born.

not unless you think Hitler built a time machine
and went back 3,000 yrs and gave it to the natives
and they copied it from him ???

highly improbable

I bet less than a third of the people on GLP know.

We need the symbol.

I hope someone like Herr Hiltler comes back and we can wash the tide of multiculturalism away and free our once beautiful lands.

Re: Swiss decide not to ban Nazi symbols
Actually you all get it wrong.. Hitlers swastika / symbol was his representation of national socialism. Always black in a white circle against a blood red background. And rotated clockwise 45 degrees. Moving forward. Its not just about the symbol as a single entity.

Re: Swiss decide not to ban Nazi symbols
leave symbols for the symbol minded but objectively, its a balanced representation,of what idk.national socialism, although heavily statist,is not in itself a fascist ideology.the beliefs and intentions that underpin it,inevitably merits its desireability to ordinary people.
