Recurring Ear Infection - Fungus - Lotrimin in the Ear
My ear infection came back

Went back to the Doctor

He said I have a fungul infection in my ear

He told me to use Lotrimin Drops (the same Lotrimin that is used to cure athelete's foot fungus infection)

Went to the Pharmacy - they gave me:
Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Lotion

The instructions for this medicine says not to use it for more than 2 weeks

Doctor told me to use it for 1 month, and than go back and see him

He said from his experience, it usually takes 6 months to get rid of

Doctor said it started when I got water trapped inside my ear (in the shower)

The water doesn't belong trapped inside the ear - and fungus started growing.

I want to get rid of this ear infection before Martial Law comes and I get shipped off to a concentration camp.

It would really suck being in a concentration camp with this ear infection - it would be way too stressful for me

Recurring Ear Infection
=============

Yeah, I had a shady infection in the ear about a year and a half ago, four different anti biotics to try and get rid of it. It was so bad one day,I went to clear my sinus's out and there was a popping in the top part of the ear drum. Really really bad pain I got. Went back to the doctors, he thought I had a collapsed ear drum. I thought I'd ripped a nerve or something. Went for an MRI scan to have a deeper look and nothing showed up. Now a year and a half later with pain every day from it, its a pain in the arse! It still feels like my ears are clogged but theres very little wax inside them, its probably some shady virus that just wont go away!

Looks like I'll have to invest in my own damn cures! I might just give that stuff a try...

1. I should had used rubbing alchohol in the ear when I first got water trapped in there

too late now

rubbing alchohol will evaporate the water that is trapped in the ear

but it won't kill the infection

if you have a bacterial infection (home remedies - vinegar, olive oil, oil of oregano)

If that doesn't kill it - it might be a fungal infection like I have

I have this anti-fungal in lotion (liquid drops) not cream - see a doctor and ask him about it

3% peroxide. Lay down on your side, put the peroxide in and let it boil the stuff loose. Then squirt some warm water in it several times with a baby buld syringe till the chunks come out. You might have to do that a few times but it will be very effective. Plus it tickles and sounds like rice crispies.

Another alternative is ear candeling.

maybe your situation is more severe, but have you tried just plain old peroxide?
I used to use that on my children when they were younger and it always worked.

Re: Recurring Ear Infection - Fungus - Lotrimin in the Ear
I just started using these Lotrinim 1% drops last night at the recommendation of my otolarangologist (ear nose throat Dr.) and they burn and are so extremely painful that I actually cried. I do have a perforated ear drum from the length and severity of my infection, so I'm thinking that the drops are burning the inner ear. Anyway, I have to discontinue the treatment and call the Dr. because this is inhumane torture! I don't know what other treatment is available. :(

Peroxide will kill the fungus. teaspoon in your ear - plug with cotton and wait until the bubbling stops.

I'm an audiologist,

A fungal infection has to do with the ph balance of the skin in your ear. You might want to try drying out your ears with warm air (such as a blow dryer). The idea is restore PH balance. Using drops kills the infection, but keeps your ear very wet.

Go to your health food store and talk to the folks that know. I would guess they would likely suggest oil of oregano. I take it at first sign of infections and it can be used topically and internally both.

I did a Lamisil drops treatment years ago after struggling for years with recurring ear infections....I did every natural remedy, took numerous antibiotics, and saw 2 different ENTs before finally finding a doctor who suggested this. It only took twice a day for 3 days to clear it up and I've never had a problem again. That was maybe 8 years ago.

Bullshit on your doctor.

Peroxide and alcohol mixed half and half in the cap. Pour into the affected ear, and let bubble for at least two to three minutes. Do this at least once a day, and it will be gone in a few days.

Same treatment also works on just about any upper respiratory infection (including the cold). In those cases, pour into each ear for the prescribed time, and repeat until cured (usually a day or two). If you don't believe me, try it. You will be amazed.

Oh, and the alcohol drys the ear out better than any hair dryer.
