3D printed Gun tested by ATF and Blows up!
"The Liberator is the first 3-D printed gun
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms tested several versions of the gun in different plastics
One made of Visijet exploded before it was fired; another of more durable plastic fired eight shots easily
Authorities say the gun is a safety and security concern because it's not detected by metal detectors"

With the 3D printers becoming an everyday household item, gun regulation, along with other laws, will become obsolete.

Not that I am a gun advocate, but it is obvious what will eventually happen, and fighting it will not work...

probably the .22lr one with a 2cm barrel worked because it only had 700 or so fps behind it.

But the 9mm blew to smitherines and maybe the .380 worked too?

Nobody is ever going to make a fully functional firearm entirely out of plastic. That's called an airsoft gun lmao. Bullets need metal barrels, firearms need barrels, a tube of unrifled plastic is not a barrel....

Sure they are. There are plastics strong enough.
(Although no plastics you can use in a 3D printer, yet anyway)

But now there are 3D printers that use metal, and they already have used one to create a working gun.

Bah, laws...

Lawyers and politicians believe they can solve any problem creating laws. (While still keeping loopholes the size of a semi for their own benefit)

If you think laws do any good, you truly are an idiot.

The only ones that follow laws are the law abiding citizens that will have the guns shoved up their asses the minute 3D printers become mainstream and available in the ghettos.

The only one suffering from banning guns are law abiding citizens, not the criminals.

All research ever conducted has shown again and again that the guns belonging to law abiding citizens rarely is used for criminal activity.

You dont need a 3d printer to make a gun:

[link to thehomegunsmith.com]

This english guy made one from home depot parts, fully automatic, and there is even instructions for a silencer.

I think you need a specific designs to print a gun. Whether that will hinder people making them is unknown.

Indeed! Why not just make a few ink droplets on paper laws that all cars must have 300 mpg using existing fuels. Oh wait, is it because law are just that, ink droplets on a piece of paper. Nothing to do with nature, reality, and physics. Just decrees by a small group of people to control them while the gun carrying goons put fear in people to follow those ink stains.

the MSM news segment i saw on TV told a different story, they portrayed the plastic gun as deadly, accurate, powerful, and UNDETECTABLE specifically saying they can be snuck into airports, schools, hospitals, and courtrooms.

then almost like a disclaimer they showed a quick snippit of the gun exploding and said they need metal parts to work. im pretty sure the sheeple will miss that part just like they are supposed to

There we go, I knew I'd seen this somewhere.

atm we're figuring out how to get 3d printing to give us what we want.

So while there are prototypes that fail (like the one in the OP) there are also ones that work pretty well (like the one in the vid above.)

Basically, 3d printing of firearms is viable, the tech is young but picking up pace quickly as we figure out what materials work and what designs are viable.

Governments are shitting bricks over the concept of firearms I'm sure.
Give it some time and everything is gonna change.

I'm sure people said Karl Benz was wasting his time on that stupid carriage with no horses.

that one is metal

metal 3d printing is complicated as all get out.

its metal powders, then kilns to heat it together
etc
etc
etc
very complicated, not the same as plastic 3d printing

You're missing the point. The ATF can't reglate firearms printed at home. While the ATF is probably right about the unsafe weapons: their prime directive is to stop people from making their own unregistered firearms.
