Luck would only have to do with the opportunity part of the equation IMO. Granted you got your total animals out there but that is not the case in every situation. I was brought up to know that my body was mine and mine alone to give regardless position or strength and that all men sleep at some point. And the women I know in the military have the same attitude.

I never thought women should be in the regular armed

services. I have ever known only 1 woman that wanted to

go into the marines but as a code breaker. The media showed women wanted this but I haven't seen any protests for women

in combat. Most women I know want to know how to protect themselves and their families, but none want to go to war.
It does seem that the military owns you if you join. They

can vaccinate or experiment on you and you really can't say anything. I wonder when that started and how.

The Christian right is cutting loose from sky pretense of traditional Christian morality. I heard something frightening on Christian radio today. The jist of it was that outside the Christian context of Jesús is god, the moral teachings of Jesús are Insane or demonic. I not making this up.

Who benefits from horrific images of a rape culture within the us military? Obviously rape has always been used to frighten women back into their "traditional" cultural roles. But also, veterans are talked about as potential "terrorists". Don't allow horror at the rape culture within the military become a bias against all veterans as belonging to a rape culture. That bias lays the ground for believing they are all monsters, disloyal to their own people, capable of any atrocity, capable of "terrorism" against us. Who benefits from a readiness to believe our troops can become terrorists? Anyone who perceives a threat from them.

Don't let the acts of disturbed men allow you to be willing to accept that our troops may become dangerous enemies to our society.

Don't do to our military what was done to Muslims. Many of us stopped seeing individual men, women and children and saw only threat and danger from a group.

The only way to avoid fracture in our society is to hold individual men accountable for specific acts, and to hold all others innocent.

Here's what people don't want to talk about. The type of person who willingly joins the military during a time like this where we are attacking all kinds of countries and killing over a million people is generally someone will a lack of moral compass.

I'm not saying everyone who joins the military is a bad person, I'm not even saying most of them are bad people. What I'm saying is that the ratio of dangerous, violent people is astronomically higher than the general civilian population.

The deafening silence on this issue reminds me of the silence of the murder rate in black communities in the US. It would be racist to say, so we can't talk about it. Criticizing our troops is on the same level socially as criticizing black culture in America; its a topic that can't be touched, and as long as that's the case, this problem will continue.

Its useless to sue a Corporation, the VA, but she certainly may sue each individual for full culpability, to the full extent of the law, including all the others who conspire to keep remedy from this woman.

I finally got a chance to sit down and watch this.

That "issue" has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. Shame on you.

I simply do not know, but I do consider this a very, very real possibility.

What jumped out at me is that she would name the physicians who allegedly operated on her, but does not name the alleged rapist.

She has nothing to lose by suing individual physicians for malpractice. She could face serious legal repercussions for wrongfully accusing an individual of rape.

What I see, and all I see, is an individual who has had multiple surgeries.

What I hear is one side, and one side only, of her story.

I absolutely do NOT take this story at face value.

Readers and viewers are too quickly overwhelmed by emotion, and too reluctant to engage critical thinking -- as though to doubt the story told by someone in this wretched a condition is somehow disrespectful.

EVERY allegation of rape or wildly negligent medical practice deserves critical analysis -- because there is another party on the opposite end of the equation, the accused rapist or accused incompetent physician.

The story has NO rape component, NO incarceration, OR intentional mutilation.

What is IS about is apparent serious medical malpractice, and possibly some psychological aspects inflicted by the victim herself. But she surely has suffered, no doubt about that at all.

I have to agree with this poster. I'm also a 13 year Navy Veteran. I have some doubts as to the video posted.

Here's what I don't doubt -

There's certainly medical malpractice involved. Just look at her! Gov should be held accountable for whatever surgeries this woman had to endure and her end state. I don't think anyone right-minded would deny that. VA is fucked up, nobody denies that.

I don't doubt she was raped either. Tailhook happened in 1991, and if she woman was raped in the 80's that probably happened.

Here's what I do doubt -

The 115 days incarcerated. I seriously doubt this claim. If she really was locked up for 115 days in a medical ward, there HAS to be record of that so that she can prove it. If she was, she might have actually been suicidal or gone mental (as she admits in the video). She very could have been mental BEFORE she was raped as well, making the rape all the more worse.

The woman is definitely has signs of mental instability, (look at her facebook page, twitter etc.) but at this point it's anyones guess as to the root cause. Someone who endures this type of torture would surely lose their shit, but also she could have been crazy long ago.

Clearly this woman has not been treated fairly in the system and deserves compensation though. This is like super sad. Victim of the bureaucracy for sure.

Fact is, her situation should never have gotten this far in the first place.
