Re: Strong, potentially damaging winds to impact the Northeast today!!! 6th death has been confirmed in IL!!!
i want to know how many F4 or F5's there were today. i don't think i've ever witnessed a storm go mental across so many towns and states at once. the storm front was HUGE.

i'm pretty sure the death toll is going to rise. i remember the first few reports of 9/11 had like 11 killed 100 injured. didn't turn out that way when all was said and done, did it?

I heard reports of 1 EF4, that was in Washington, IL, and swore I heard "EF5" on the TV earlier. Not sure where...

Re: Strong, potentially damaging winds to impact the Northeast today!!! 6th death has been confirmed in IL!!!
So many assholes here talking shit. People's lives and livelihoods were lost today. Cities and towns wiped off the map. This was a huge event for so many people. If you were lucky enough to be spared the worst of it you should be grateful and doing what you can to help the people left dealing with the worst, not bitching because people are making too much out of nothing.

Today was horrific.

I turned on the news and saw the panoramic and I thought I was going to throw up. My cousins are linesmen out there in Missouri and Kansas, they got spared the worst brunt of the storm, but they have to go clean up after it and see the devastation. It's not funny. It's not a joke. It's not political or religious. It's people's lives and their babies lives. And it's not over.

Have some human compassion and empathy and decency. If you were lucky enough to be spared, get out there and help, donate some money or time or blood, don't bitch and moan because you didn't get to witness the storm of a lifetime.

Ok, I've never seen anything like this in my years. 80 tornados? It isn't really even tornado alley, correct?

WTF is going on?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45197753

Change!

Real climate change, it is going to get a lot worse before we shift into a much colder climate, especially in the northern hemisphere. The shift will happen over the next ten years, between now and then extremely severe weather will be the new norm. That includes all forms of weather.

Good luck.

Nice ! We are prepped here too. I got the thought/message that we have 10 years until we will have to change the way we live. I saw that the surface weather will be too severe to live on.

What state you in again? You can PM if you want.

I'm smack dab in the middle of this. I rarely concern myself with forecasts around here, most don't live up to the hype but, this one has my attention. It's looking BAD.

I was too, Central IN we didn't even get a clap of thunder. Just a bit of wind. I REALLY HATE it when they hype shit up like this...

Relieved to have made it through today. We're not far from Washington. Took shelter in our bathroom because we don't have a basement. I've lived in Central IL my entire life, and this was the closest call for us. I know a lot of people who live in the worst hit areas and luckily they are all safe.

And Lake Huron saves the day once again for me, as soon as these "Supercells" get near the Lake they draw the cool wet air , rapidly equalizing the pressure and humidity, then it just rains. Now when the storm comes in from the lake that sucks!
And they say the Communists lost,LOL

The tornado warnings have dropped way, way off. As of right now there is only one tornado warning in effect. The discrete supercells we saw earlier that produced tornadoes are now becoming more linear in nature. This means that the overall tornado threat is diminishing and now the main threat will be damaging straight-line winds.

wow do you realize there are people who died because of this storm? People have also lost homes.
 Quoting: Ms Zippy

There's too many people who type before they think. And if they DID take the time to think first and say things like that, I won't bother with their words. My whole family is in Chicago and the outlying area's. And I have a lot of friends in SE Wisconsin.

I just spent a couple of years there, in So Wisconsin, and was absolutely amazed at how people stick together there. Every time someone gets hurt, passes, loses their home in a fire or flood etc the whole town(s) comes together to help. I'm not kidding. An old friend, a nurse, driving home from work late at night in the country in the winter rolled her car and was paralyzed from the neck down. There was so many benefits and charity events for her and her family I couldn't go to them all. One of my closest friends lost his wife to cancer 6 months before I got there. everyone looked out for my friend. Rides, bringing him food, helping with repairs on his house... There's more to write but.... It was humbling and impressive to see people join together helping each other.

It would be great, and this would TRULY be a great nation if we were all like that. I don't know if it's possible any more. Especially if Mr "I wish the weather would've killed more people" has friends like himself here.

I wasn't bitching because we didn't get tornados. I was bitching because these idiots where I live already don't listen to anything important. NOW THEY REALLY won't listen....Because this was so hyped up, specifically for my area. I am grateful that we didn't get tornados, this would be the LAST place I would want to die.
