Thread: Black Students At Historical Black College Lash Out at Obamacare: School Cancels Insurance

"I can't afford anything right now," one said. "I can't even afford my loans."

"We don't have that money," said another. "We can barely afford books."

Several students said that they felt they had been let down.

"It's stupid and it's Obama's fault," one said. "You haven't done anything, Obama, and I'm disappointed in you."

"What it was hyped up to be, was that it was supposed to solve a lot of problems and help a lot of people, and its not really doing that," said another.

Many students had no idea the plans had been canceled, which was announced only in an email to their school addresses.

In a statement to Campus Reform, Bowie State said it was confident that Obamacare would fill the void left by the canceled plans.

"Most students are now able to be covered under their parent’s health plans up to age 26 at no additional cost and new affordable coverage is becoming available through the Maryland State Insurance Exchange System," it read.

Campus Reform conducted the interviews with student Eugene Craig III, who first wrote about canceled plans in an article in the school's alternative newspaper, The Bulldog Collegian."

I simply misunderstood yours.

It could happen that people will see it's not so awful being without medical insurance. I had none for years and nothing bad happened. Planning on going without again if my employer plan gets too expensive. Will know the rates in a few more days. There's no way I'm would pay more than $200 a month for insurance.

Obamas solution-Buy each black student their own insurance company.

I was trying to think of how that goes. I agree.

They elected someone based on the color of his skin, not the content of his character. Then they are surprised that they ended up with an immoral monster who doesn't have a problem with destroying their lives.

Do you ever feel like all the crap just gets the better of ya sometimes and ya just snap a bit? (that's what I did w/my 1st post)... I do and I have to push myself away from GLP just to get my grip back on the life that surrounds me...

today is just kind of a sucky day...all the crap of Ovomit, leaves are all off the trees, flowers are done blooming, the darkness is longer, the world looks dead outside my window..(lower W.MI here). I look forward to snow! - its so beautiful! - I don't like the cold but I do love the beauty.

It HAS been a day like that. No sun here for days - dreary. Got my dose of abuse from my mother and this obamacare (I think I won't capitalize that anymore) stuff does merit a break from it.

I did, however, get some stuff done today - new windshield wipers and tire rotation. Doesn't sound like much, but it is for me. Heh.

I'm checking out of here for a period of time.

In a word, yes. That is what they expected. Remember the vid we still have around here from the first Obummer campaign with the young black girl gushing praise for the Dem nominee because, 'Obama's going to pay for my mortgage?' Blacks have every reason to think themselves exempt from most social and financial obligations because to date, and for the last 40 years, not one Administration has forced them to behave like responsible Americans instead of just a privileged special-interest group.
