I thought how brilliant. From the time you start school it is drummed into your head that you are going to college and there are NO alternatives. Which is ok if the child is inclined towards academia, but what if they are not? I went to school with a guy who could build anything out of a piece of wood and yet had a lot of trouble reading. He was forced into college, dropped out in his second semester because he couldn't keep up, and felt like a loser... He finally got a job as a furniture repair person and now builds custom pieces for big bucks and he is as happy as a clam... College is not for everyone, the smartest people I know didn't go... |

And all of those lovely ruuuules to follow!  Some of the best wisdom I have heard comes from dropouts. Common Core is about training students to become efficient consumers and analyzers of random bits of text. Common Core has pushed aside literature and history and replaced it with a series of targeted reading exercises. Children do not even know what they are reading anymore and are clueless as to how it relates to the real world. On its face, this focus on "complex text" seems refreshing, until you realize it is actually designed to make students less intelligent. The problem is not Obama, it is the idiot educational establishment who are too lazy to teach / convey knowledge and would rather the entire educational experience be systematized into a meaningless methodological syntax. |

It isn't that she is a genius that puts her in advanced classes, it is the fact that she is surrounded my morons. |

I dropped out of college because I could not see a future in it. I left no debt, and was making $100k a year back when all my college grad friends were making $27k. I didn't go to university again until I was in my 40's, and frankly, did it just for grins (because I am not a sports fan, nor do I have any other expensive hobbies). I was also able to pick and choose my professors, hence able to avoid the avalanche of libtardedness that buries the typical unwary student. If you go into debt for a university degree today in America, you totally deserve to live with your parents, forever. What a great past you have. I love it! And I absolutely agree with the part that you should never go into debt for education. If people would only do a search and see how much money in holdings around the world that our major universities have, they would be stunned and ask why do the colleges not offer education for free. Not taxpayer "free" but the unis could pay for it themselves... Harvard is worth about 31 billion, yup, 31 billion dollars. Most college have extensive art collections, but let a private business have assets like that and everyone moans about BIG business... |

She told me that they dumped it this year. So that is already gone in (at least) some of the districts (can't say if it was a local or state decision) |
