How Do You Make Coffee? Percolator, Auto Drip, or French Press?

I like fresh Coffee grinds straight from Columbia. Much stronger then the store bought stuff.

I also like auto drip because the heating coil destroys any possible though unlikely bacteria for superb Coffee pleasure.

We use this one, with dark roast pads.

I bought an electric perc at a second hand store about three years ago. I have never had such great coffee. I use to use a camping perc on the stove, before I got my french press. Now french press is just for tea.

Perc is the way to go if you are serious about your coffee ;-)

Got a French press a few months ago and I will NEVER GO BACK! It makes the best coffee, no contest. It is a little more trouble to use and wash, but for me entirely worth it. It's the best coffee of my coffee-obsessed life (64 years).

Nothing compares too Coffee made over a campfire.

If you really like hot coffee, get a perc. Nothing is hotter then that!

What kind of perc did you get?

Have you compared it to perc? If so, what is the differences in the coffee?

I love my Keurig. I'm on my second cup right now and will drink two more.

I haven't tried that yet.

I"ve never tried Keurig.......too expensive to buy those little cups.

French Press here!! I sold the Verisimo and Keurig and went back to the basics. Hail Hail the black flow!

I also recently got one of those little Italian things you fill with water in the base, screw on the top and boil on the stove.

It's for making espresso mostly but it also makes a damn fine cup of regular joe.

I also, bought a percolator at a vintage second hand store. I will never go back to a drip. My Farberware Superfast makes great coffee no matter what kind of coffee I put in it.....upscale or store brand. And, it is super fast. It is no more trouble than a drip to set up or clean. Never much liked my French press coffee, so great idea to use it for making tea! Oh no, now I am worried my pot might become non-functional. I pray that doesn't happen anytime soon LOL

I have a vintage farberware superfast model too! 2-4 cup model!

And, a vintage GE potbelly 9 cup, which I adore!

I've seen them on ebay, but don't they only make 1 cup at a time?

I was at my Moms second home cleaning it out as she sold the place . I found a 1959 peculator and tried it out it still worked like a gem ( they made things to last back then ) ... makes the BEST coffee too ! ... I love it !

I've had to improvise before in the back country and make mine in a bandana, in a pot of water over the camp stove! Oh it was the best as we had an epic day in the unpredictable cold mountain weather, it was sooooo delicious!

Short story - I was on a business trip to Mexico City last year and the client put me up in a 5 star hotel, forget the name, shaped kind of like a Mayan pyramid.
Anyway, the coffee they served was so good I ended up not getting much sleep I consumed so much. I finally ran into the chef one morning and asked him about it, he took me back to his kitchen and showed me.

#1 Fresh beans from Columbia, flown in every morning and roasted that day.

#2 the grind: coarse

I love my Keurig too! I've got the small one and I use those reusable pods that I got from the Dollar General store. No wasted coffee ever!

I bought an electric perc a few years ago because I always loved my mom's percolator coffee, but the one I got, which wasn't cheap, leaks the grounds into the water no matter how little I put in :(

Aren't percolators great? I have an auto-drip at home, but mom has a stove top percolator at the house that we use when the power gets knocked out. I LOVE coffee made that way.

You can get a filter for percolators, they are just a round disc shaped filter with a hole in the middle.

Back when I used an electric perk I used a mrcoffee filter, just poke a hole in the center of the filter. Helped a lot to reduce the grounds in the coffee.
