Cop Gets Owned and Pwned by a Law School Student, LMAO | |
Captain Spaulding User ID: 47567453 United States 11/17/2013 03:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50079096 That's what he should have gotten anyway, or a smackdown, for talking back to a cop. Cops don't like smartasses who think they know there "rights." Be polite, be respectful, and if you have a problem with a cop, work it out in the courtroom. I heard him being "polite". he didn't swear or threaten in any way. He stated the law. The officer did NOT know the law and assumed the guy didn't either. He assumed wrong. So the cop didn't know his own job. To "go to court" he needs to be charged with a crime. He wasn't. So why should he go through the hassle of being detained and then seeing a judge? In court you plead "no contest" and accept the fine/terms. It's an admission of guilt. He did nothing to be charged with. THEN, when you go to court and if you want to SPEAK to a judge, you get to wait IN JAIL for a JURY trial. To avoid jail you just stand there with your mouth shut and accept whatever they throw at you. Even when innocent. The guy broke NO LAWS and the police didn't know the "laws" they were hired to uphold. Simple. The police officers owe the guy for a lesson. |

Quoting: Starstruck Thats still an invasion of privacy. You cant just suspect somebody of being a criminal because they are carrying a gun. That is stereotyping and prejudice. |

pho_in_your_stuff User ID: 12315132 United States 11/17/2013 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it's similar to being stopped and asked for ID for something mundane, like a cell phone, considering his state had lax gun laws. I'm in a state where even concealed firearms are 100 percent legal, given you are not a felon / on probation. I can't imagine being stopped because it's, "of concern". Let's take a moment to admit that the cop, himself, is not necessarily the one to blame. We have a crooked system where this behavior is promoted and encouraged. I feel like police are increasingly less concerned about keeping the peace, and more about controlling the peace. pho_in_your_stuff |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49747803 There is a guy walking down the street holding a gun, your job is to go over and talk to him about that. I doubt many of you would have the balls and the nerve to do it calmly and professionally. If the guy is breaking no laws, then there is no reason for the LEO to engage the citizen whatsoever... If I am taping my stop and do something wrong, it is more evidence for the cop to use against me in court. Tapes do not lie, its the beauty of video surveillance. It is just watching a unbiased view of the event. Therefore, I can think of no reason other than to hide police misconduct. They swore an oath to follow the law. They have a lot of power. Think they are the only people that can legally lock you up. If anyone else puts you in a car against your will, that is kidnapping with a 25 year prison sentence. That is a shit ton of unchecked power for a 23 year old kid with a big ego to have. |
Ozi User ID: 25455079 Australia 11/17/2013 03:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well done to the law student. He was respectful and not a smart arse. You have to be very careful trying this shit because you are likely to get you arse whooped by the police. Especially if you are the type that has come under notice before. Ie if you are a petty crook and you carry a gun and you act like this you will and you deserve to get your arse whooped by the polcie. What you have to remember is that most police officers are trying to do their job well. I said most. But they are being influenced and pressured by the suppervisors and by current political issues. Further most are not trained as they should be by the establishment because if they were they would not do what it is they want them to do. I for one am not lMAO when I see these video instead I pray that everyone remains calm and safe. |

He would of got his day in court. Policeman would of denied or downplayed his dialogue, his buddy would of corroborated, and he would of spent the weekend in jail, probably got a couple hits with the baton, fined and a record of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest just to name a few. His knowledge didnt win that, the camera did, just have someone always around video taping, and collectively other 3rd party witnesses. Good luck. This. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2976614 United States 11/17/2013 03:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pretty good, only issues I see are 1. the kid sounded a bit nervous and edgy, like he loves to just school police and gets his jollies from it. carrying a gun down the road in open view? Why? And why the persecuted snot-nose tone to his speech? He might understand the law, but doesn't seem to understand people yet - he could have been a bit more chill so as not to scare the cold demeanor of officers who do deal with many hysterical psychos on a daily basis and 2. the officers should know the law a little better. |
