Rickenbacker basses have that compression circuit in them that make them sound so nice.

You could do the same with foot pedals, but the Rick makes it easy.

This guy flows better than the first one....less mechanical.
He's got the grove.

I think I like the first guy better. Just seems to have more emotion into it.

You are reading the Rick bass as emotion....which is why Geddy Lee of Rush uses a Rick.
They have depth that no other bass has.

I was screwing around with my bass (Ibanez SDGR 5 string with custom Bartolinis) this afternoon adding a live non-keyboard bassline to this song....just for the hell of it...no other reason other than it amused me.

1-By emotion I meant he was apparently more into it..he was bopping and showing bodily responses to the sounds...the second guy was robotic and did not make any movements other than his basswork at hand level.

2-Just saw that you posted this video...DAMN DUDE what was that? There were some "hell yeah" riffs in that... like the synth guitar solos (if that's what that was) I was like DAMM DANNGGG fuck yeah...

He was more mechanical on the strings.
Some people FEEL music.....others can play it but don't feel it.

As for the video.
I think that synth version sounds better than the original in the video at the bottom...
...but to be fair, when they made Miami Vice and Jan Hammer did the soundtracks, 8bit was the shizzle...that was state of the art back then. lol

Yeah, the synth guitar solos would be great with a real guitar and some foot pedal compression/noise.
I'm just adding a bassline to it for fun.
I still haven't got one that I like with it, but it was a fun way to piss away a rainy Sunday afternoon and relax.

Here's the original....new synth sounds much better.
