another bible thread about the "forbidden fruit"
Okay there's already a thread going where someone asked what the "forbidden fruit" was.

Naturally everyone wants to say it was "sex", but that's a screwy idea(pun intended) because afterwards God said something like "behold, they have become as Us, able to discerne good from evil" which to me seems to refer to the faculty of Judgment, not to be confused with "being judgmental" as the pacifists are trying to say(If you think Jesus was a "pacifist" you haven't read the part where he beat up the jewish bankers in the temple and bodily threw them out). Also someone pointed out that the 'sex with satan' idea would mean Adam too had sex with satan because he too "ate of the fruit", so I think we can dispense with that explanation, and also with the fellatio jokes they inspire others to post.

Another bunch of replies are from people that can't wait to post links to gnostic websites telling all about how the forbidden fruit was hallucinogens. Well sorry but no I do not see Eve scraping Iboga bark to make tea, and I do not believe the Garden of Eden had Amanita or Psilocybe mushrooms growing in it lol.

There were also odd theories about what the serpent was, but the bible says he was more clever than the other beasts, and beasts have four legs. Also he was cursed to slither on his belly. A serpent that doesnt slither on his belly because it has four legs is a lizard or some other reptile. Note how Asian dragons are depicted as being snakelike but with four legs.

Anyway if the entry point i've set up is not too high or two narrow, does anyone have theories about the "forbidden fruit"?

Alot of talk about Dragons in the bible, they are an intelligent acting species. The fruit...

Hmm. You can test spirits to see if they're of God by the fruit they bare.

It's doubting God's word and disobediance.I look at it as a symbol. The fruit does not matter. It was the ACT of disobeying God that mattered. It was never likely an apple anyway as it always appears to be in pictures.

Re: another bible thread about the "forbidden fruit"
It's whatever it is for the person holding the "idea" of it. For some, it's sex, for others, it's knowledge, for others it's exploration of different states of consciousness. For some it's the listed sins rendered in a book. Look at the replies. Those are all "forbidden fruits."

It is that which you must "eat" of enough to find the Tree of Life. You can't get to the Tree of Life, without understanding knowledge (of the world). Once we bit the apple, there was no going back.

No point in beating ourselves up over it. Spilt milk. Learning of our "nakedness," to my mind, means we learned that we are body (ego) and separate from Source. We left the garden of the consciousness of an animal, or baby, and discovered our individual self.

Getting "punished" for it is that we now have to run this obstacle course of individuation and ego long enough before we say "I know there is more." This is when we truly start examining this ego self even if it means destruction.

The beauty of it is, the only thing that is at risk of getting destroyed, is the ego.

Guess where the Tree of Life is? In the center of the garden. The World Tree.

Re: another bible thread about the "forbidden fruit"
flower Hey Zeus!

The outer is just a reflection of the inner, IMO. If you run away from the things that you fear (in you), such as shame, guilt, dogma, they will haunt you. Distortions are created through misunderstanding your inner self. Avoiding what creates these emotions to arise, gives them power.

That's why there's so much perversion within organized religions. It's the supression and misunderstandings of one's own desires that prevents one from looking at them clearly.

I like what you said about needing to find out if there was "really" a God, even though there was never a time without God. I think that is a good way to describe the bravery one has to take when looking at their own mirrors, God being the biggest grandaddy mirror of them all. Taking a hammer to this mirror means you'll destroy it in order to find out if it's real. It's a huge risk and not for the faint-hearted.

Once the mirror breaks, the illusion is dispelled, and all you can do is laugh at what a fantasticly beautiful and perfect way it was all set up. The mirror must break to see behind it and find what you're looking for. Well worth all the suspense, nail-biting and drama of it all. The sheer BEAUTY of it.

How's that for yada yada?

I'd really like to know once and for all why people post threads asking for a discussion, yet needing none at all, since they already have the answer.

WTF do YOU think gnostics are? Not a cult, not a believer, not a group, no bible, no creed, no ideologies.

A gnostic is simply a person who prefers experience with the Godmind (gnosis) over belief (fantasy).

Re: another bible thread about the "forbidden fruit"
And I don't call myself a gnostic in real life. It's only the closest label I can use in the word-world of the forum.

Call me a happy bunny for all I care. The words were not "trotted out," not canned, did not come from some outside authority and were given from my experience.

You don't have to agree with the contribution, but passing so many unwarranted, false judgements shows me that you can't come CLOSE to knowing the topic.

look gnost-tards, it was stipulated in the opening post that sex with someone or something could not be what is meant by "forbidden fruit" because Adam did it too after Eve. If you don't like it, go start your own pagan propoganda thread.

Go ponder some of this idiocy some more:

"I don't mean all knowledge apparently, there are many forms."

Poor, poor 278, wants so bad to have his gnostic fucktard doctrine heeded. But he won't go away and make his own thread, because little gnostic fucktards can't get anyone to heed their wise pronouncements unless they sneak them into some non-fucktard thread

Re: another bible thread about the "forbidden fruit"
I have a theory...The forbidden fruit was exactly that just fruit...the problem is that god said not to eat that particular fruit. So in doing so, right there, revealed to them the knowledge of the option to disobey god or to CHOOSE between good and evil. Before that they probably did not know, that they even had the option to disobey god.So the problem is choice.

Your remembering that part wrong. In Luke it states he drove them out. In John he did the same and drove them out with a whip he made from chords and over turned the tables scattered the coins also drove away the sheep and cattle.

But nothing about him "beating" up a person.

Angry yes.......beating up others.....no.

the forbidden fruit is flesh

i have given you every herb and every tree that bears fruit that bears seed to you it shall be for meat(food)

you know like thou shall not kill---this does not just mean humans rather applies to all god's creatures

this is what has been covered up and why we were booted out of the garden becuz we started killing his creatures and devouring them which the fallen angels showed us how to do
