Just a stupid question...

Why the fuck do you Americans think it's such a great idea, to line the pockets of insurance companies, agents and lawyers, with healthcare money...?

To the tune of countless of billions?

Why not have a federal taxfunded system instead? That delivers adequate treatment for the majority of the populace, with a private system on top as a comparative corrective? That offers special services to businesses and individuals who might be in a position to need, benefit from, and/or afford prioritised treatment?

Most other western countries are perfectly happy with such a system?

The bottom line and main interest for a society should be the amount of healthcare produced pr. invested dollar, and not how many lawyers or insurance companies you can make rich in the process???

No?

You're right in that it is the collapse. You are wrong in that it will be fun to watch.

Think about this.. For all those folks expecting their monthly premium to be offset by tax incentives; they are in for a rude awakening when they realize they have to pay those premiums alllll year before they get anything back via tax refunds. This alone collapses the economy. If they try to cancel said insurance mid year.. sorry you can't. As will all medical insurance there has to be a life altering event before insurance can be cancelled.
OK, cancel insurance by not paying.. Good luck, bammy care is direct deduct from bank account.

When this goes down, say, a few months into 2014.. give or take.. It is full on riots when people can't feed their families.

Re: Six weeks 89 million Americans will lose their healthcare... if they want to sign up for Obama/Demacare their price will double!
every country that has rolled out state healthcare has experienced massive drops in healthcare premiums across the board and all consumers have gained massive savings and a host of new, competitive private companies.

full private health coverage here is less than %50 of what it was 30 yrs ago and our yearly premiums are less than monthly coverage in the US, who before affordable care were the most expensive on the planet.

while its funny watching obama haters tell lies, it is a bit sad for glp getting a further reputation for hosting fearmongering bullshit, as the rest of the world has rolled out state healthcare , and none of the crap they bleat happened anywhere else on earth.

are americans clever enough to observe what has been taking place on earth regarding healthcare, or do they actually take in the crap the rest of the planet knows from years of experience is deliberately posted to confuse and make fools of them?

Because this is not affordable health care. This is squeezing every last drop out of the middle class to give to the poor/lazy for free.

This law is making my coverage 80% higher and my deductible goes from 2500 to 7500. Who wants to pay 758. a month when they were paying 458. and then have to come out of pocket 7500 before you get a dime back.

I could use that money toward a newer car since mine is 11 yrs old. This doesn't only affect the rich it affects everyone that pays into our society, which by the was has gotten to be less and less over the last 6 yrs.

The rest of the world must have rolled it out right, this roll out is anything but right.

Australia has a population of 22 million. state health care may work great for you. US has 330 million. Not so easy to manage. And your statement regarding every country that has rolled out state health care having massive cost savings is BS.

Re: Six weeks 89 million Americans will lose their healthcare... if they want to sign up for Obama/Demacare their price will double!
For all you non-Americans (slaves) who keep talking about cost... those of us who are against government health insurance are against it because of what it gives to the government. For some reason, none of you seem to be able to comprehend the basis for the American government and what it means for its people. You don't understand the central American ideals that launched us from nothing to the world's super power. Trust me, we didn't become #1 because we followed what the rest of the world was doing.

It all boils down to this: Only a small fraction of Americans didn't have health insurance due to their inability to acquire it, and everybody who was severely hurt and didn't have insurance was already covered under our old system free of charge should an emergency arise. While I have insurance, I've only been to the doctor one time in 10 years, and that's because I switched doctors and wanted to get a physical since I hadn't been to the doctor so long. In other words, while it may suck for some people who get a disease and don't have insurance, the bulk of Americans are already covered, or willfully didn't buy insurance and didn't need it, or had a catastrophe and were covered anyway.

Due to our justice system and action taken by the government, our premiums were higher than they should have been, and those things should have been addressed (but they were not). There was also nothing stopping any of you enterprising individuals who feel so bad for the uninsured from launching your own charity-based insurance program (outside of government red-tape which may have made such an endeavor impossible).

We fundamentally oppose government meddling in our health because we know what corrupt government can do. ONCE THEY HAVE ANY SAY in your health, they will screw you over, and that's un-American. We do not like people telling us what to do; we favor liberty. We don't want the government telling us what we can drink, or what kinds of foods we can eat, or how much we have to exercise. And why should they? I eat fattening food and sugary drinks all the time, but when I did go to the doctor and had my blood tested, all my numbers came back perfect. I'm also at the low end of the ideal weight for my height, so I'm not fat. I also never get cavities from the sugar.

So let's summarize:

1. Most of us already have insurance.
2. My premiums were very low (lower than I'd have to pay if I were taxed as part of my income for government insurance).
3. I do a lot of things the government may deem unhealthy or safe, yet due to my genetics and physical activity, I have great health and never get sick or go to the doctor/hospital.
4. Should something happen to me, my insurance would cover it.
5. I don't need the government dictating how I should live my life, and having control of health-anything gives the government power to dictate how I live my life.
6. When it comes to general quality of care, many of the best doctors and hospitals in the world are in the United States.
7. We are the third-most populated country in the entire world behind China and India, neither of which I would ever want to go to for my health care. The countries you often compare us against all rank far lower in populations: UK (22nd), Canada (37th), and Australia (52nd). So add up those three countries and multiply by 2.5, then break it into 50 pieces under a federal system, and you'll see why this is also a horrible idea from a logistics standpoint.
