Our kids were headed home from church when they along with other kids got caught up in a road block / alcohol stop. Our kids thank goodness refused others did not. They are gathering DNA so legally am not certain if you have the right not to submit w/out possible automatically losing your driving privileges. |
Useless Cookie Eater User ID: 29696048 United States 11/20/2013 01:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some drivers along a busy Fort Worth street on Friday were stopped at a police roadblock and directed into a parking lot, where they were asked by federal contractors for samples of their breath, saliva and even blood. Quoting: Ms. Superduper It was part of a government research study aimed at determining the number of drunken or drug-impaired drivers. "It just doesn't seem right that you can be forced off the road when you're not doing anything wrong," said Kim Cope, who said she was on her lunch break when she was forced to pull over at the roadblock on Beach Street in North Fort Worth. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is spending $7.9 million on the survey over three years, said participation was "100 percent voluntary" and anonymous. But Cope said it didn't feel voluntary to her -- despite signs saying it was. "I gestured to the guy in front that I just wanted to go straight, but he wouldn't let me and forced me into a parking spot," she said. Once parked, she couldn't believe what she was asked next. "They were asking for cheek swabs," she said. "They would give $10 for that. Also, if you let them take your blood, they would pay you $50 for that." At the very least, she said, they wanted to test her breath for alcohol. She said she felt trapped. "I finally did the Breathalyzer test just because I thought that would be the easiest way to leave," she said, adding she received no money. Worth and Jupiter - lovely area BTW). I am glad the kids were smart enough to exercise their rights. Good on them, and you also, as their mother(?) or dad(?). This is all so disgusting. Something like one of those radiation badges hospital staff wears. That way a cop can just walk up to your window and test you without your consent and then he would have probable cause. Maybe it can sniff for dna too? I'm sure the free breathalyzer is to verify what their new sensor is reading. |

Jer 3:33 User ID: 1283850 United States 11/20/2013 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only reason they add the "Breathilizer" test to the options is to make it seem like this has anything to do with drunk driving in case someone actually sues over this bullshit... Quoting: Saddletramp Cheeck swabs aren't to test for drugs, that's DNA... That's bout right and they can say it was random. Usually you have a number and stop say every 5th car or you have to stop everyone. here when they do it, they just ask for your license and car info and see if you act like you been drinking. I would have took the 60$ the military has all my DNA info anyways. That being said they are just collecting more data to lock us all down. Probably got drones that can find you off of it.
