Unfortunately, the U.S. had no gold or silver and promised to pay later. The value of the currency deprecated since many knew that it was unlikely that they would ever be able to redeem the obligation. And England printed large amounts of counterfeit Continentals to devalue the currency.

I do get America's grievances because for the most part they were taxing Americans without giving them any form of representation. But they weren't asking for any major concessions at the time, in fact they were only asking America to pay for a portion of the costs of keeping the troops their to protect their territory.

Anyway, that was 200 years ago, things have changed a little. For one thing, you've gotten a LOT faggier up there.
