Do you have any idea how long it will take ISON to transverse the sun loop? What, 3-4 days or even less perhaps. No idea.

Should it survive then it is SO fast whipping by inner planets to earth in only 28 days, man!

I am traveling out to the country tomorrow, to a place with a most excellent southeastern horizon, away from light pollution. I am hoping to catch a final glimpse of ISON on Saturday morning before she drops out of sight til (hopefully) after perihelion. I've got my 15x70mms and tripod packed already. All I'll need is a clear sky.

So....any bets on whether or not she will survive her rendez-vous with El Sol?

I heard on a news clip (I listen to so many though I have no idea which one now or I'd link it) that if ISON makes it around the sun it will do so in only a matter of hours....apparently. I found this astonishing....

From first visibility to last in soho cams id say a week and a half.

Probably 3 or 4 days after perihelion till we can see it if she makes it.

From SOHO's viewpoint the comet enters from the lower right early on November 27 and exits towards the top near the end of November 30.

at 1:50 into the video this astronomer from University of Tennessee says ISON will whip around the sun in 3 hours.

I would assume it would be a couple of days before we see her coming out from around back for the same reason we are about to lose sight of her in the next day or so.....

The latest LASCO C3 image has some kind of an artifact obscuring the field. It is located partly where I believe ISON will be. Looks interesting [link to www.picshare.ru]

On the 28th it will take only three hours to go around the backside of the sun. It will then take a few more days before it is far enough away from the sun for it to become visible from Earth again......

It is on STEREO Ahead's HI1 today though. I don't like the way the jpgs are processed when it comes to comets on the HI imagers, so here's my processing of the latest Ahead HI1 beacon image.
