*Ozone Baby* User ID: 49063996 Canada 11/21/2013 10:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No not perihelion in 3 hrs.....it will go around the sun in 3 hrs....right? Quoting: sreglof23 Wow 3 hrs. Quoting: sreglof23 ... Quoting: *Ozone Baby* I found it! at 1:50 into the video this astronomer from University of Tennessee says ISON will whip around the sun in 3 hours. I would assume it would be a couple of days before we see her coming out from around back for the same reason we are about to lose sight of her in the next day or so..... [link to www.wbir.com] ?? That's not right is it? I thought the 28th? Yes that is what the astronomer in the video says. It is picking up speed every second it approaches the sun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Resident Led Zeppelin Expert (ask me anything!) *Ozone Baby* User ID: 49063996 Canada 11/21/2013 10:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On the 28th it will take only three hours to go around the backside of the sun. It will then take a few more days before it is far enough away from the sun for it to become visible from Earth again...... Wait...I thought that it will be MOST visible to the naked eye (if it survives) on thanksgiving? Are you saying that we will not see it until 3 or 4 days after? We will lose sight of it shortly. We won't be able to see images of it because we will be "blinded by the light" of the sun. If it survives its journey around, we should get a spectacular sight as it makes its way out of the solar system. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Resident Led Zeppelin Expert (ask me anything!) Ison is the first car of the train to arrive late fall or early winter, and its a very very long train. Why do I use the word train? Because they'll be coming in one after the other like train cars following behind one another. But first lots of small meteors coming in this summer. (end) |

You can see it moving downwards in this animation I put together covering 11/20 to 11/21 (it's between Mercury and Earth in the images): [link to img43.imageshack.us] Pardon the jumpiness, the beacon images are not collected at even intervals, only when stations are available to collect them, so it's a bit jumpy.
