Where I live we have a Cathedral. On many occasions there has been a homeless women with a cart sleeping rough near the grounds. I often wonder why the church doesn't help this women with accommodation and food.

I have also know people who have approached the local Priest he fobbed them off, when people try to tell him about this homeless women.

It seems they are not practicing what they preach, it is mostly image not substance in their activities.

I think I agree.
"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."

Catholicism is the basis for charity and helping the poor
in the New Covenant. Shall I name some Catholic charities,
past and present? How about all the Catholic hospitals
that dot the globe? And the schools...

Go inside the Cathedral and say a prayer for that dear lady next time you see her in front of the Cathedral. Jesus is there, He will help you too with His grace.

Anti-Catholic threads are a dime a dozen at GLP. They should be a hint, Roman Catholicism is the faith.

God bless you,

The denomination shouldnt really come into it, all the Christian churches should follow the teachings of the Bible. I found the Catholic church quite dictatorial.

Re: Do Churches really follow the teaching of the Bible?
The church is not the denomination of a religion setup by man. If they follow the teach of Christ, then they are a House Of Christ followers. The thing is someone is casing stones and what do they do to help people? You have a right if you are a Christ follower to correct a member of the house but not if you are not.

That is up to the LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS, the accuser of the people of GOD is Satan! Not that he listen if they are true believer cause their sins are covered!

All the churches should, but not all do...some have gone off on some wacky tangents that are way outside of biblical doctrine (mormons, unitarians, etc.)

While other churches do follow the word of God as written.

Depends on the church.

My church would definitely try to help her, but some homeless people don't want to be helped for various reasons. My church has a food bank, gives away coats in the winter, makes baby baskets for the local hospitals to give to under privileged women for their newborns, etc. If a church isn't helping the less fortunate they aren't followers of Christ.

Pick a God pick a church pick a jesus .
There are over 20 000 different versions of Christianity all professing to be the true one. Each demented splinter group defending there beliefs without listening to logic. Its sad these people cant just step back and see how silly they all are.
They argue with themselves over the interpretation of each line and verse of the bible. Each one thinking there version is absolute.Common sense which doesn't seem so common with them shows clearly they are all wrong.
Its all about the reward ,no promise of heaven and they would not know what a bible is.

But then you are judging them based upon nothing more than appearances, aren't you? You say that you 'know' people whom approached the priest but have you? Your words are "it appears and "it seems" yet is this definitive enough to make enough judgement to come on glp and make a thread? No. In doing so, you have no definitive discernment that just perhaps warmth, shelter and food have been offered but refused. That certainly is a possibility, is it not? In which case, this thread is passing judgement upon a group of people that may have already done what you suggest they have not.

Many homeless across our countries get food from shelters but absolutely refuse to stay in a shelter because of drug addictions. Their getting high is more of a delight to the flesh than a warm bed. In which case, please go up to this woman yourself and stop judging on appearances. Until such time, understand that you are doing what many young Christians do - judging before being given discernment.

THESE CHURCHES ARE DEVIL WORSHIPPING INSTITUTIONS FOR THE LORD TELLS YOU OVER AND OVER ... HE DOES NOT DWELL IN TEMPLES MADE BY MAN ... FOR THE SPIRIT DWELLS WITHIN YOU!

Acts 17:24-25
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Acts 7:48
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

1 Corinthians 3:16
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Church goers CLEARLY have never read OR have no understand of the Bible.

But does your church give a drink of water?
The world is sold on the idea that Christianity is there to feed the starving, to provide creature comforts and to house the destitute? But do these physical things save the flesh or save the soul? Do these things knock down strongholds in the mind - taking down all arguments and pretensions against Christ - or do they simply comfort the flesh? It's not my argument that we do not do both, but the world including many Christians assume that the drink of water....is just plain old water.

This thread is a very good example of an OP assuming that that church should be feeding and sheltering that homeless person. She or he has no inkling of the strongholds in that homeless persons mind that must be brought down, often before physical help can be accepted and any sort of spiritual growth can be stirred. I would even ask the OP, in his logic, at what point should the church physically force this women indoors since she assumes that they have not offered, in the least, physical comfort?

A congregation can offer physical care all day long - food, shelter and clothing - and it can remain just that. Food has no impact on the heart, but the word of God does. Here is an OP assuming, all but blaming a congregation for the homeless person's state, because he views Christian congregations as storehouses to satisfy the flesh only. He will not acknowledge that the main storehouse from which we draw is to be the treasures and words of the Almighty, and that the very power of God for salvation - is the gospel. This is the error - food fills the belly, but the bread from Heaven is life.

The world is happy to have Christians feeding it's poor and destitute and drug addicted, but remind the world that feeding bread and giving a drink of water is sharing the gospel then....not so happy.

Have you ever noticed how most big and well-known churches have the one-eyed symbol on it's wall design? This one-eyed symbol is also on the American dollar bill. If you search out on WHAT this one-eyed symbol represents, you wouldn't be asking this question.

Re: Do Churches really follow the teaching of the Bible?
Please do not be led wrongly. The church is not the building or organization. GOD is awesome. He IS SPIRIT. Therefore, realize we are created in His image. When we accept Jehovah, we are spiritually reborn into the new liniage of the second Adam, Jeshua. We no longer have the law of condemnation out of the 1st Adam consequences of sin.
This is how God took care of the problems faced with man kinds evil ways.

You are the internal dwelling place for your spiritual Maker, Jehovah God.
The Holy Spirit. No one can make this happen even with technology. Physical technology is a way to induce a physical lie.

The human being is the vessel, the temple. They are scattered everywhere, and no one can find them located only in church buildings. God is not mocked. Too many are in physical buildings that are not filled with Jehovah's spirit. HE said He will reclaimed HIS good name. So what ever the buildings religious institutions have said or done won't matter. It's the individual being that matters.

In Revelation we see the last church made a name for themselves. This is today. So many denominations, so many man made rules, even in the oneS that use Jehovah's name. HE warned us in a great heavenly chaine of orders. 1st for Jehovah himself. Then to His Only Son to the angel messengers to John and was written to the churches as a warning.

Jesus, Jeshuah said he was a servant, the angles in Heaven said they were servants and we are commanded to serve, to help especially those who do not have help, like widows and orphans.

We must go back to our first LOVE, Jehovah and His Son because God Gave Jesus the Authority to rule. He is the second and ruling Adam. All things will pass away and the new will come. But all must be tested first. Even the Angels do not know to true outcome of each individual. Only God knows when to send HIs Son! Only God knows the heart. Jeshuah only does what the FATHER says. It would be wise to do the same!

May God bless you with Wisdom for Jehovah God. He gives to those who ask without judgement at all. Just ask! He knows what HIS creation is doing! All creation. He gave the sun and the rain on all living things! Calamity falls on all. We are all learning the truth and what is right in His eyes not humans own ideas. Read the scriptures yourself. Stop laziness.
Get Ana interliniar Bible that has the numbers above the translated word and look up the word in a word study book for the Hebrew or Greek translation. You will be floored as to how far the gender correct bibles or others have changed the meanings of Gods messages. it's bad and you can't connect the puzzle.

But don't be dismayed. It's faith in the Plans of God which includes the new Adam, Jesus, Jeshuah. Remember the thief on the cross. Jesus welcomed him in when they died.

Remember.... God is HOLY. Where He is, He is always perfect and good. If He choses to close off help or blessings, it will only prove, you are NOT in control and you have the choice to realize that He loves little you com paired to HIM. After all, He made it all. Praise Him anyway. Remember Job. Remember so many prophets who knew this. Humbleness goes a long way.

By the way... God is pouring out His messages and understanding to a lot of folks right now. homeless people are not dumb just beaten up or miss led. I met a guy who is being encouraged in the words of the bible and He is so excited and he knows and understands the scripture. He is studying on his own using thesis above study books. Any can be in the know when they believe and learn. Don't be swayed into the lie of the new coming controlling one world religion.

It will all lead you to separation like all of Adams offspring. Remember Jeshuah, Jesus is the new Adam of life and He is coming back!
