They didn't include Festivus either but you don't see me crying about it.

Now sit down and shut up. It's time for the airing of grievances and I've got a lot of problems with you people.

That's because Blum and Feinstein don't celebrate Christmas, they celebrate Hanukkah.

In charge of selling the facilities for the Postal Service is CB Richard Ellis Group, one of the world's largest real estate companies, chaired by San Francisco financier Dick Blum. CBRE, which has worked with the post office since 1997, was awarded the exclusive contract to market Postal Service facilities in 2011. Blum is married to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a relationship some critics of the post office have duly noted.

Blum's wife, Senator Dianne Feinstein, has received scrutiny due to her husband's government contracts and extensive business dealings with China and her past votes on trade issues with the country. Blum has denied any wrongdoing, however.[3] Critics have argued that business contracts with the US government awarded to a company (Perini) controlled by Blum may raise a potential conflict-of-interest issue with the voting and policy activities of his wife.[4] URS Corp, which Blum had a substantial stake in, bought EG&G, a leading provider of technical services and management to the U.S. military, from The Carlyle Group in 2002; EG&G subsequently won a $600m defense contract.[1]
In 2009 it was reported that Blum's wife Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to provide $25 billion in taxpayer money to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, a government agency that had recently awarded her husband's real estate firm, CB Richard Ellis, what the Washington Times called "a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms."[5]

We had a nativity scene on ours last year. I don't know what they are like this year.

I wouldn't be buying the "holiday" ones if those were my options.

Re: USPS ad for ‘holiday stamps’ omits Christmas — includes Kwanzaa, Hanukkah
Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa in 1966 as the first specifically African-American holiday.[2] Karenga said his goal was to "give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society.

The 7 principals of Kwanzaa

Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves.

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems, and to solve them together.

Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics): To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together.
Nia (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

Imani (Faith): To believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

Can you even imagine a holiday that is geared only to whites and the first principle would be to " strive to maintain the UNITY OF THE RACE ?

Has anyone been able to find theoriginal ad? Would be interesting to see. For instance, was it a one time ad, or part of a series of ads. Maybe there were several made that just showed three random stamps. Just thinking. it could have been that christians already know there are stamps. The focus of the ad could have been to let people know that "holiday" stamps include something for everyone, including athiests. But without knowing more about the campaign i cant really say for sure.

Kwanzaa is not a holiday at all. It was invented by an American black guy as a teaching tool.

And as for the main point of this post - pin suggestion.

They're pissed that the USPS didn't waste resources advertising a product they sell every year.

Indeed, despite the fact that the USPS is floundering desperately and our country can't meet its financial obligations, these people would rather see money spent needlessly to promote a product that people already know about than being used to promote products that people may not already know about and therefore may generate additional income through advertising.

In short, these people are somehow convinced that this is actually a theocracy rather than the USofA, inc.

The USPS cares about the bottom line, not your religious delusions.

And by this time next year, they'll be so insolvent there won't BE a bottom line and you'll be FedExing your Christmas cards - without the currently available line of Christmas (and other holiday) stamps adorning the packaging.

Turns out Kwanzaa was birthed out of the "black power movement"

No one can say for certain how many people celebrate Kwanzaa, which began in 1966 and has roots in the Black Nationalist movement. Keith Mayes, author of "Black Power and the Making of the African-American Holiday Tradition" (Routledge, 2009) said that conservative estimates are that between 1 million to 2 million African Americans celebrate Kwanzaa. Organizers of The African American Cultural Center in Los Angeles put the figure at 40 million worldwide but that includes similar festivals in Africa and elsewhere.

Yeah, I already pointed out on the first page why they would choose to spend their advertising dollars on lessor-known products, as it is common knowledge that the USPS always has a wide array of Christmas stamps available every year.

I even posted the link.

They still bitched and moaned about how picked on they and xianity were, then someone called me a moslime (I think that's how they spelled it.)

This isn't an argument about reason and facts, it's about people feeling picked on because it makes them feel special.

If everyone catered to the xians all the time, hell if everyone WAS a card-carrying xian, these people wouldn't know what the fuck to do with themselves.

From wiki
Festivus, a well-celebrated parody, has become a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 which serves as an alternative to participating in the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas and holiday season.

So I guess its for people that dont want the traditional holiday with all the gifts and hoop la.
