ISON - behind the glare AWESOME!!!! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 50454945 United Kingdom 11/23/2013 05:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | interesting vid, flameworker! Thanks for the great thread. Quoting: green_girl My only thought on this is what image was used and by who to run the filters, and in what program. OK - that is a lot of questions. If it a screen shot in photoshop, then the filters mean absolutely nothing. A full res pic, meh, though if it was raw we would be getting closer to seeing what could really be there. But not in phtoshop. The filters in photoshop really are only designed to mimic certain effects. They can reveal some things, if a shot is slightly overexposed for instance, but to take the original shot, all photoshop can do is mess with pixels in a desperate attempt to guess what you are looking for. It would be interesting to know more about the source of the image file itself, and what program was used to make the manipulations. but as you are astroshill I think you already know that light is light you get the same data as the experts get when you analyse a photo in photoshop, or whatever program you use yes, they have better toys than you, but you can see a hell of a lot in the photos you get Deb, you're trying a bit TOO hard now. you're on a loser. |

And since it grew wings, would not that make it a "winged planet" When it comes to planets size does matter. I have asked out of curiousity a few times amd still no one has told me who deb is/was, lol. Anyway, light is light? I make a living on photoshop. All you can do with a screenshot or jpeg like that is play with pixels, not really light. The majority of the coma of ison is white in that pic. All photoshop can do is treat the mass of white as though it were one object. That is perhaps simplifying it a bit, but in essence that is what it is doing. Basically all you are seeing is most of the coma where it is dense enough to show up as white or almost white. the fuzzy, almost see through blueish bits get dropped, but all the rest stays as if it were one object. You are not seeing the nucleus. Now if the image is not a jpeg, i am interested in looking at it further, but i dont know the source of the image used here. :malefav: I love this place!! |

green_girl User ID: 49871189 Canada 11/23/2013 06:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree. Astro is the perfect person to look at this! I dont take photography through a telescope, so i cant help with verifying the purity of the picture like he can. But what my gut tells me is that we are not looking at an unedited pic to begin with. I am pretty sure before the photographer submitted the pic he had already altered it to get that pretty black background and colour. So without knowing how he might have altered the image, we can hardly look at a photoshop job someone else did to it and say it must be true. :malefav: I love this place!! |
