The movie is absolutely brutal, and I can only imagine how the african americans feel after seeing, probably looking to hurt the first white person they see

The history and depictions in the movie are true, but this probably wasn't the best time to release a movie like that............

just wait until a holocaust movie comes out with the same graphic depictions as 12 years a slave..... you'll have jews running around playing the knockout game too

Much of the movie is true concerning what was happening, but the main question is, why release the movie now, at this exact time? they already knew the results would be what's happening now. Black youth sees it, gets angry, wants to knockout or kill the first white peerson they see.....

Here is what I find fascinating about this.

Races have been enslaved since the beginning. Blacks, Whites, Chinese, Korean, name a race, there has been slavery.
Slavery is vile and cruel, there is no argument to be had otherwise.

With that being said, we in the US live in a culture where it is believed that only the black US slaves have suffered and that is all that matters when the race card comes out.

If we had let this pass, as other races have, we would be a much more unified country, but that is not the way those in power want this to play out. If blacks and whites understood how much they are being played and all the propaganda they are being fed and what other history remains unsaid, things would change. But alas, that is not what those who pander this about to divide our country want.

Obama is the perfect example along with Jackson and crew of dividers and repressers of their own race. These are the true modern slave masters.

not sure how many here actually have seen the movie, but it's like torture gore porn. some of the most horrible stuff you can imagine is depicted in the movie, including children being sold away right in front of their parents, and the overall tone of the movie puts white people in a very very bad light

The book was a best seller in the 1850s and had a strong effect on the abolitionist movement before the Civil War.

BTW, I recently found out that one of my ancestors was a leader in the Abolitionist Movement. Made me proud.
