Now many states want to secede from U.S.
Since WND first reported that residents in the state of Louisiana were petitioning to secede from the U.S., residents in over 30 more states have filed requests with the White House to peaceably break from the union.

The federal government is so big and complicated they will do anything to sustain it. Too many people benefit from the federal system and will do whatever is necessary to continue it. Too many people are scared of change. Too many people believe everything they are told by politicians.

Succession may sound good at first.. but in doing so we can say goodbye to our constitution and bill of rights. Quite possibly a civil war ending badly for both sides.

This makes no difference, the entire apple is rotten.

I think the key to any sort of change is a state where the people can no longer survive within the system created by it's government. When people start starving on mass, then you'll see the change in government. Either through secession, or rolling into dictatorship. I suppose the question is each state would need to be examine to see if there's enough economic might/powerful people in the state in question who would oppose a move towards martial law.

The US revolution occurred because there were many wealthy, powerful, and well connected men from each state willing to put their neck on the line because the benefits of being out from under crown law was worth the risk.

The article is from 2012 but here is a very short Layman's term type layout of the frame work of The United States.
All 46 States and 4 Commonwealths (yes, the U.S. only has 46 States plus 4 Commonwealths) have their own Constitutions these Constitutions all contain a Bill of Rights.
In the simplest terms all 50 are like sovereign nations united under a central Republic based Federal Government bound by a Constitution and a Bill of Rights.
Each one has the right to leave the Union if they so desire.

Absolutely. It has to be a combination of common resentment and leadership with some sort of power. (Control of resources, economic power, military power, etc.)

If there is no opposition there is no change of state. People run to things, not from them.

it will happen only when average citizens care about country/lifestyle/rights...average citizens have capability to endure extreme hardships before contemplating action against govt officials
Do you remember a single soviet govt officer attacked after collapse of USSR? never
people never pay attention to govt that is why govt get away with lot of things
