Re: Are you looking for help for Christmas or looking to help someone in need
I have been helping others there for many years, but wont be helping there this year. I can only take so much from the folks there. Last year I was very disappointed after helping many, they were not happy with what they got and said they wanted cash instead so they could buy what their kids really wanted. Only 1 person out of 25 families that I helped even said thank you and was very happy with what they got. The year before I had 10 people out of 25 say thank you.

Seems like yearly there are many there that are just out to take, all they can get year after year the same people are in there. Chey helps out in the chat room has for many years now, I use to help but decided enough was enough when they want me to call the number I am trying to give them. Those of us Angels that hang around in there don't get paid to help out, and when we spend some days and nights 18 to 24 hours in the chat room trying to help and we get cussed at because we can't guarantee help, or because someone is giving to someone else and not to them, that is a bit much.

I know some are truly in need but after being conned year after year while those in real need went without, makes me feel worse then I did thinking all of them were going without. This year I am taking food to the elderly around our area. I know they will be happy with it.

3 years ago I saw how nasty it can get over there, then I decided no more coming in the 2 weeks before Christmas. That is a bad time to go in, and a select few In need folks PM every person that walks in the chat room the moment they come in.

Last year was the pits, one lady threatened the owner of 2 hands and his family, they closed the chat room. She even Threatened all the angels that she would shoot them all.

I helped 1 family from my state through there this year and that was it. I gave them gift cards last week.

I help locally and try to keep it anonymous as possible. Often people would ask for more or complain when I was direct contact. It would make me feel regretful, so now I do through local charities and do not know who it goes to and they dont know it was me. : Much better

Giving locally is always my choice. There are food banks and always the Toys for Tots campaign and Senior Center party.

I have to say that if I went to a chat room giving site and gave one on one to someone who knew my name and I knew theirs, and they were able to ask but not to say thank you, I would be put off also. Selfless and anonymous giving is great and is done in the ways I described locally...no thanks needed. I just feel it is quite different if someone asks for something specifically, knows YOU have provided it and cannot say thank you. I'd not use that venue again.

I don't have much money at all but I would like to help people out who have less than me. I would just prefer to give it to the people in need personally, and not through some agency or website who will obviously collect a fee.

american culture/society has changed over the last 20yrs...dramatically.

I enjoy giving to others...especially on those years that I have in excess and feel very lucky/blessed to have what I do.

yet, there are more and more people that have bought into the msm brainwashing of 'the world owes me what I WANT'.

I've had a few tough christmas seasons where I wasn't sure how I was going to buy any gifts or provide anything for my kids......but there was always a miracle of an answer that gave me extra work in those occasions to relax .

Many people just don't understand the power of prayer and the trust that goes with it. POWER COMES to those that are humble and seeking. ...

as the saying goes...'God may not lessen the load I carry...but he ALWAYS gives me extra strength to bear that load when I ask for it' All you have to do is ask and be willing to work...

but people really aren't aware of this principle much anymore. even here on GLP...People go nuts when you mention faith in God...like demons screaching!

I've been in the depths of hell many times...by my own doing...and working my ass off...and the doors not opening...and prayer with trust makes that miracle happen...

every single time. ...and seeing it unfold...is amazing.

Christmas is a great time to recall the REALITY of divine, supernatural beings that are always waiting to help.

whether you believe in Christ or not isn't relevent to what I am addressing...it is a simple humility and trust that 'God' will answer your prayer...his name can be Jehovah, Allah or Zeus...it doesn't matter.

If you are down and out and dont know how to handle things...try it....it will work.but be willing to work...you must say 'yes' to that first offer to work or the first offer of help...

This year has really gotten to me as far as trying to help people.I have paid bills for others,I have bought clothing for others, and so far this year I have sent [ordered online] needed things to others. One lady that has 4 kids said they needed a tv and dvd player because she couldnt afford cable,or afford entertainment, etc.So I made her my Christmas effort this year.I ordered a flat screen tv,a blu ray player and 10 movies and had them shipped to her.So far not so much as a thank you.
I dont expect praise but a simple thanks would be nice.Thats just an example and honestly I am at my wits end helping and donating this year.Every charity or anything local has hit people up for donations.Right now I am so broke I cant even think of affording anything for myself for Christmas.I never buy for myself anyway and I use to get such joy out of giving to others but things have changed so much. They get mad if you dont buy a certain brand or send cash instead.I just dont know.I think this will be my last Christmas to participate in anything.

That is what I will do if I participate in any thing after this year.I have felt sad, depressed, lonely, and plain hurt by peoples attitudes. If they dont know who is giving then you dont have to hear about how you didnt do enough.I think regretful is the word that fits me this year. Not regretful for giving but regretful at how people act.

I stopped celebrating this crap. It makes so many "rich kids" spoiled and "poor kids" sad. Some people even commit suicide over this helloday. Whoever says this is related to "christ" or the most high obviously didn't get the msg. Not to mention it correlates with some obese unhealthy guy that has a bunch of slaves, breaks into peoples homes and loves little children sitting on his lap. WTF!!!

Yes its true, it is what Jesus son of God and the Apostles did while on earth. No one could possibly reward them but God himself. I am sure they went without thank yous most of the time. In fact, most were killed in horrible deaths that is the Thank You that was recieved. The only way to make your christ light shine is through complete self less service. This is what I learned after 10 years near death experience research. Jesus said in the bible its better to give than to recieve.

Why not give to an animal shelter or animal rescue operation? The dogs and cats (and other thrown away creatures) would love warm blankets, toys, pet food, treats or help with vet bills and such and IF they had voices they WOULD thank you profusely unlike some of these folks who are out cyber-panhandling! Not that we give to get thanks, but just knowing that what you give is appreciated is better than someone cussing you out over it or going and selling the stuff you gave them to buy dope or beer or cigs with!
