Re: Who represents the Human Race?
Children of the Sun

People of the Earth can you hear me?
Came a voice from the sky on that magical night
And in the colors of a thousand sunsets
They traveled through the world on a silvery light

The people of the Earth stood waiting
Watching as the ships came one by one
Setting fire to the sky as they landed
Carrying to the world Children Of The Sun...

but, for that infinitesimal spark.......I would stand for you as a race

Re: Who represents the Human Race?
So this was your burning question xD

Let me give you my take:

As of today, humanity does not stand as one, alas there is not "one" representing it but many. If a common thread to humanity would arise, I still doubt we could come together, see Fukushima and/or natural disasters - Haiti, Katrina, Phailin, Deep Water Horizon etc. etc.

The world does not stand as one in any of those occurences. There are thinly spread organisations dedicated to disaster-relief and governments will dispatch money to regions which have been hit. That is as far as it goes in most cases. Most times the countries in question are left on their own, not only by governments and organizations dedicated to specific disasters, but mostly by the vast majority of other humans, the lack of empathy regarding humans on the other side of the globe is one of the few things we as humans as a whole have in common.

Luckily in case of hypothetical extraterrestrial threads from intelligent beings, there will be a weird phenomenon of mass-psychology triggering in the human brains. Same happend with germans rooting for hitler, it is the alienation of an enemy. The jews were portrayed as subhuman, therefore it was OK to kill them, they were not of the same species in the eye of the german - not only german, but a lot of humans in europe.

What would happen if an unkown intelligence would visit us? If we can assume it is intelligent enough to travel through space, we should assume they would be intelligent enough to realize how social-structures work - that would be if they developed in a similiar way to humans. In which case they would probably pick up on current power-structures pretty quickly and would not be satisfied by any "representant" brought fourth through our own systems. If they were interested in real dialouge with a "representant" of humanity, they would likely pick one themselves based on objective standards measuring intelligence.

If they would accept a single representant picked out by ourselves, it would probably be the leader of the self-proclaimed free world, the american president. If a conglomerate would be accepted it would likely be the G20 presidents.

In case of a non-extraterrestrial disaster/threat, humanity is to divided to elect a single represantant who would actually represent the will of a majority of people. That is a systematic built in bug/feature of a democratic voting process though. The only way to force a single entity would be a vote where two candidates stand, and one will inevitably gather the absoloute majority of votes at 51%. There is no way though that all humans can come to a consensus as to what would qualify such a candidate and the traits associated with it. You would have to hold a vote where not two candidates are up to choosing but every single human on this planet is a candidate himself.

Now it gets interesting, if everyone votes for himself we get some 7 billion representatives of earth. Since everyone "should" have his own desires and his own world view and what is best for it, that could be an satisfying answer. But in reality there are people who will sell their vote for pocket change, people who will be impressed by speeches and political ideas of others - leaving the though process leading up to those rather to others than to themselves and giving those people their votes. There are those that do not wish to vote, making the whole voting moot in itself, but than again, we can't force people to vote can we?

xD

Just wrote some of the stuff down that came to mind, I could probably go on for pages xD Have a nice day Angels!

Re: Who represents the Human Race?
I don't think we would be the ones with the original suggestion of who should represent.

It would be the other party that would initially suggest which human. Then, the suggestion would be discussed by humans as to why the choice of that particular individual. Most likely, in the beginning, humans would not understand why that person would be chosen over others. Eventually, it would become clear. But, it would seemingly be someone outside political agendas and militaristic mind sets.

Billy had a suggestion in this thread a few pages back...to ask my child what I thought.

Well I did...I posted it in my other thread cause billy was there at the time and I wanted to get the response to him.

Anyway at first he said a child...then he thought some more and said no because children do know as much as adults do...in the end he said it should be a mother :) I thought that was an excellent response... No one else has posted it afro but you know in the end...I have to agree with Spin and BHZP's responses :)

Hope your having a good night Facts!

Re: Who represents the Human Race?
Oh god, this probably will sound insane and stupid but I've been pondering the question and it's implications for a few hours now.

The only way to truthfully (s)elect a single person would be to hook up every human to the internet/the digital world and figure out a way to merge emotions and digital data somehow. I can't go into greater detail at the moment as I still do not understand the meaning of this and much less the consequences. One of the greatest things to publicly overcome/accept will be the darkness which is present in every human heart. How does this fit in one being? Ask yourself.

To be honest this is my closet-dream, I haven't really disclosed this to anyone I know in "real-life"/the analog world, so I don't know to which degree it could be recognized as a feasible goal as a civilizational need in these times of systematic justice-denial.

I honestly will volunteer for any digitalization-process though, even as it sounds blaspemous and crazy. But language as means of communication has long since reached it's limits as to how much information can be truthfully communicated/processed, as humans (even most adults) are still not able to express themselves through it.

Fuck, becoming one is not something that will hapen over the course of a few years, it would take decades if not millenia if it would happen naturally and not be forced xD

The question that lingers in my mind is this:

Is digitalizing emotions the same thing as materializing emotions?

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh we probably will not get an answer in our lifetime ;____;

Sorry, just had to post this one, also, thanks for the praise my previous answer got, it was really only what was coming to mind at that time, just like this one. Besides the occasional occurances of roleplay in some nobody-threads (for shits and giggles) I truly have only one agenda, that being to broaden my horizon on the acceptance of some of the ideas and thoughts I have been keeping to myself for way to long due to the lack of any understanding opposition XD
