Constitutional Convention movement, this weekend Dec, 7 Mount Vernon, Virginia
A growing group of state lawmakers from across the country are exploring ways to limit the power of the federal government by using a seldom-referenced clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Last week, the President Pro Tempore of the Indiana State Senate David Long (R-Fort Wayne) joined an effort to explore convening a Constitutional convention pursuant to Article V of the Constitution.

Long joins legislators from Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wisconsin who have all signed a letter calling for every state to send a three-person bipartisan delegation to George Washington’s home in Mount Vernon, Virginia on December 7th.

Repeal the 16th while you're at it!

ohyeah
Yes, as through this world I've wandered
I've seen lots of funny men;
Some will rob you with a six-gun,
And some with a fountain pen.

And as through your life you travel,
Yes, as through your life you roam,
You won't never see an outlaw
Drive a family from their home.

I don't see that happening. If proposed at a convention, it would only take 13 states to put a stop to it. Even if by some progressive miracle, they managed to pull it off, I think that would very well lead to the 2nd American Revolution. I know other countries have been stripped of their firearms, but it was never written into their laws as a fundamental god given right that was not to be infringed. I think most realize it truly is the only thing that prevents a true dictatorship and tyranny. If they were to take it away, the people would have no reason not to fight. If they didn't, the country the founding fathers created would truly be lost forever.

But the latter will, no doubt, be the melancholy fate of a people once inspired with the love of liberty, as the power vested in congress of sending troops for suppressing insurrections will always enable them to stifle the first struggles of freedom.

So far as of November 22nd, 90 State Legislatures and 30 States have confirmed they will be attending. Marking for the first time in the History of our Country the States, using the Constitution, will decide in a bi-partisan (3 Legislature per state) matter to protect the freedom and liberty of the people against the establishment, the government, and the President of the United States of America

You're right, they aren't following the Constitution. That's why the people need to hold them accountable and force them to comply to stricter standards. It would be impossible for them to ignore a term limits amendment. A balanced budget amendment that set clear penalties for failure would be amazing. Imagine if they failed to have a balanced budget and the penalty resulted in not only complete forfeiture of all pay and benefits, but also meant you were ineligible for re-election. Everything I've read on this current movement is geared towards restraining the federal government. We all know they aren't going to do it, so it's up to the people.

food for thought - they cant get the gun control - cant collapse the system til they do. theyve been moving on it with extreme prejudice of late - but a con-con, would do it.
