that's the common thread with these 'come to Jesus' threads, or in everyday life for that matter, it all boils down to the same thing, saving your own ass

Very poor analogy because a person who is drowning has direct evidence and observation of their threatening circumstances. A person being threatened with 'hell' by 'believers' for not believing something has no such proof/evidence at their disposal, nor do the 'believers' either - only faith in the IMAGINED consequences garnered from misinterpreted & mistranslated pages of a text. Clearly these circumstances are not analogous in any way, shape, or form.

I don't understand why, Lisa, you feel the need to penetrate my mind and force something on me, and everyone else, that I don't want. I don't want to be associated with any of that and if God wants me as a follower tell him to hit me up himself instead of sending in of his goons.

I've read it front to back more several times and there's some pretty screwed up things written in it...on the flip side...there's also quite a few tidbits of wisdom to be had in it's writings.

So if only parts of the Bible are the word of God...what parts are those exactly?

If only parts of the Bible are attributed to God doesn't that undermine the whole thing?

If some of it is just the mad ramblings of some man couldn't the whole thing be just that?

If the complete Bible is the work of God then the God the Bible tells of might not be something I chose to worship...

You have no idea what I've witnessed, spirituality is very important in my life. The Bible has been corrupted and it's meaning is nothing like the earliest known writings.

If you follow my posts, I'm not shitting on anyone. Take another look at what I've posted. The entire problem stems from the word Elohim being changed to God. The debate is about; Is Elohim plural or singular and were they really flesh and blood beings who die as we do or eternal gods.
