...

I think you are a charismatic guitarist, and what exactly are you saying? God's kingdom is not built with "feel goodness, pretty music" if that's what you're preaching
 Quoting: furPete'sSake

You are of course entitled to your own opinion about me and what I am saying... as is everyone else who reads this thread.
 Quoting: Life and Love

I can only base my opinion on what you write. The other poster was crucified for praying quietly in his closet, you however are actively out in the world "advancing the Kingdom thru the arts, because the "word", whatever that is, is so ugly. I guess some people just get away with stuff? where's the Saltress
 Quoting: furPete'sSake

wait a minute.
first of all, nobody condemned a single soul.
second of all, nobody condemned him for praying quietly in his closet.

the ONLY thing being debated here is the speaking in glossolalia which he calls the move of the Spirit or tongues as his spiritual gift.

i had to step away for a few mins.
im going to bed here shortly.
 Quoting: Salt

well looks like you baned him with the hammer, looks dead to me. He was supporting his argument with scripture just like a few others here with the same argument are doing who weren't baned.
I guess it's better to "advance the Kingdom of God thru the arts". Where's that scripturally?

fur pete's sake you are an adversary to people with talent such as music and art?! Where do you think talent comes from? There is a wealth of good pursuing talents and arts doing the will of God and Jesus.

We are living in a time when the simple truth just isn't good enough for people .........

Watch and pray , the great falling away approaches .........

 Quoting: GT500

the problem is, is this is what is taught in the counterfeit church. these people really believe that they need to accept this or they will burn in hell. they really can't grasp the divine simplicity of the sufficiency of God's word and of God to accomplish whatever it is He wants. they really think they have to practice these mumbo jumbo heebee jeebee things without any certainty or order to have God move in their lives.

When we get back to the simplicity and the sufficiency of what was already completed, we hear from God every minute of every day and there is no question, uncertainty, or hysteria involved.
 Quoting: Salt

Dear Sister,

I totally understand that satan has attempted to counterfeit and marginalize the TRUE gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Word warns of the anti-Christ spirit that is already working in the world today. I agree that it is prevalent in many aspects of the modern organized Church.

However, there is a remnant .....I would ask that we not look upon the Gifts as something passé or powerless. That would be denying the power of Jesus Christ.

Speaking in tongues does NOT a believer make....it is one of the many gifts given. That is the discretion of the Holy Spirit. This happened to me when I prayed to be Baptized in the Holy Spirit. This was my personal experience...no gimmicks or pride...this is merely how it manifested for me.

I can never deny the power of the Holy Spirit...in ANY form. However if love is absent, it all means nothing.

We are ALL the Body of Christ...but, He alone is the head.

There is so much more to unite than to divide. I hope this helps to explain my circumstance and my reality.

Most importantly, we are urged to look at the 'fruits' of the believer....but only God can look upon our hearts.

I have witnessed the awesome power of Christ and eagerly await His coming...

As I know we all do, thank you for the opportunity to speak my mind.....

God Bless Youhf

looking the fruit is very important. agreed.
but everything else you describe is heretical.
sounds very much like teachings of Montanus. he was one of the first new-age teachers who took Christianity and twisted it, thinking himself a consecrated vessel, a prophet, with two prophetesses at his side, engaged in super-spirituality. he believed that the Paraclete spoke in him and the two women specifically as they were God-given instruments of revelation. He would speak in a state of hysterical ecstacy and claim that his own personality was suspended while the Paraclete was speaking "utterances" through him.

Montanus discarded the OT completely saying it was past and done and that the Christ period had ended. he also pushed the apostolic message to the back burner and pushed his own fabricated doctrine to the front.

What you describe sounds like Montanism completely. Charismatic and Pentacostal churches must stem from this heresy.

wiki's answer to Montanism

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Beliefs

Because much of what is known about Montanism comes from anti-Montanist sources, it is difficult to know what they actually believed and how those beliefs differed from the Christian mainstream of the time.[21] One source reports that Montanists claimed their revelation direct from the Holy Spirit could supersede the authority of Jesus or Paul or anyone else.[22] The New Prophecy was also a diverse movement, and what Montanists believed varied by location and time.[23] Montanism was particularly influenced by Johannine literature, especially the Gospel of John and the Apocalypse of John (also known as the Book of Revelation).[24] In John's Gospel, Jesus promised to send the Paraclete or Holy Spirit, from which Montanists believed their prophets derived inspiration. In the Apocalypse, John was taken by an angel to the top of a mountain where he sees the New Jerusalem descend to earth. Montanus identified this mountain as being located in Phrygia near Pepuza.[25] Followers of the New Prophecy called themselves spiritales ("spiritual people") in contrast to their opponents whom they termed psychici ("carnal, natural people").[26]
Ecstatic prophecy

As the name "New Prophecy" implied, Montanism was a movement focused around prophecy, specifically the prophecies of the movement's founders which were believed to contain the Holy Spirit's revelation for the present age.[27] Prophecy itself was not controversial within 2nd-century Christian communities.[28][29] However, the New Prophecy, as described by Eusebius of Caesarea, departed from Church tradition[30]: "And he [Montanus] became beside himself, and being suddenly in a sort of frenzy and ecstasy, he raved, and began to babble and utter strange things, prophesying in a manner contrary to the constant custom of the Church handed down by tradition from the beginning."[31] The Montanist prophets did not speak as messengers of God but were described as possessed by God while being unable to resist.[13] A prophetic utterance by Montanus described this possessed state: "Lo, the man is as a lyre, and I fly over him as a pick. The man sleepeth, while I watch." Thus, the Phrygians were seen as false prophets because they acted irrationally and were not in control of their senses.[32]

In some of his prophecies, Montanus apparently, and somewhat like the oracles of the Greco-Roman world, spoke in the first person as God: "I am the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."[33] Many understood this to be Montanus claiming himself to be God. However, scholars agree that these words of Montanus exemplify the general practice of religious prophets to speak as the passive mouthpieces of the divine, and to claim divine inspiration (similar to modern prophets stating "Thus saith the Lord"). That practice occurred in Christian as well as in pagan circles with some degree of frequency

Re: Counterfeit Christianity. Christian TV Evangelists who have joined Illuminati ranks Then & Now. Look close and pay attention.
Yep, its this thread again. but, what's important is that the volume on this is getting turned way up. it's getting harder and harder to see who's legit and who's an evil agent. one of the best signs to know if a preacher has joined the ranks of the illuminati/luciferians is their wealth. but, there are many other revealing elements. you just have to know what to look for.

'Money is the root of ALL evil' and 'it is easier to get a camel trough the eye of the needle than it is for a rich man to go to heaven.'
But, then again, these sentences out of the bible could have been added in order to keep people poor? Your point that they are illuminati is on a conspiracy, not proven. Many people in the Old Testament were very wealthy and still called children of God.

do not be fooled. and the ones that are fooled the easiest are the itchy-eared born-again fundies. the secular audience are mostly oblivious but sometimes i think they can see thru the deception better than those already grafted into the church. there are many born-again fundies that are not being led by the Holy Spirit.

Key word here...Born Again and why we need to pray for them without ceasing. The world is about to be shaken to it's very core and no time to judge anymore.

there are a number of mainstream tv preachers that are obviously false teachers and evil agents. but, there are a few that mainstream fundies think are still in line with God and they are not. some are harder to recognize and you might be surprised when you find out who has blatantly joined the ranks. in these end times, deception is getting more and more challenging to see. without getting with God at the start of every single day and putting on the armor of God, it is almost impossible to not be deceived on a daily basis.

Not impossible when we go to our closet's and really seek Him with all our heart's mind's and body's with repentance daily.

warriors in the army of God - prepare.
this is not a time to lay down and be weak.
this is a time to stand, ready for battle.

wimps need not apply. get up, stand up.

Yes, prayer warrior's!

keep in mind that those who've joined the ranks have made a colossally stupid choice and therefore are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. so, sometimes the way they "represent" the illuminati is idiotic. while watching stupid people, you will see stupid things. here is some info that might be helpful:

Yep, and why there will be rewards for some and not for other's in heaven, but, eternal life is a gift for ALL who believe. John 3:16.

Salt, I have thought on this for several days and had to respond. Adrian Rodgers passed away several years ago, but he was a man of GOD and had a beautiful, understanding of GOD'S word to share with people. Never did I hear him preach anything that you could not find in the bible. Les Feldnic is another that teaches from the bible and has a lot of back ground info that he shares. As for Pastor Prince, I think he is also one that teaches GOD'S word. He isn't after your $$$ as he states at the end of his sermons to support your church and then if you can to give a love offering to his broadcast. There are many shut ins that can not go to church and the only way they can hear the word of GOD from a pastor is on T.V. While I agree there are many that are not what I would want to teach anyone, there are some that are preaching the word of GOD. We are to discern and learn. How do you learn? By hearing the word of GOD. By reading your bible along with the study. I just hope no one is turned off by your reply of these fine pastors. No, they may not be perfect, but who is?
If you break my wings, I will just find a cloud and learn to fly again. The Lord will catch you when you fall or teach you to fly! May the footprints I leave lead you to BELIEVE.

Charles Stanley is the only one I believe is a true Christian. He is a humble man, with a battered past and speaks through the spirit of love. He is one of my top 5 preachers. He always seems to say just what God wants me to hear...

The rest, as far as I am concerned, are total scumbag wolf's in sheep clothing...

After reading through the thread - I am discouraged to see those who profess love for Christ - battling it out over "speaking in tongues"

Goodness! Does it not strike you that these kind of arguments are (yet another) battering ram the enemy uses to divide us?

I have been around the Charismatic "movement" as well as the more "fundamental" churches since the 80's - I can tell you that this battle has been dividing the body ever since. I can tell you that this is an issue that has the power to get sincere believers really angry with one another.

We can't afford to be divided. We need to be united - in order to pray. Our enemy has us all in his sights - and he ain't playin - according to Revelation 13:7

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Sobering.

It is arguments such as these that WILL wear us down - as prophesied in Daniel 7:25

25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High . . .

I for one, am getting worn out. I am sickened by what I see going on in the world, and sickened even more by what I see in the body.

The love of many HAS INDEED grown cold . . .

Those of us that are "awake" - would be wise to steer clear from such senseless arguments.

We love one another - by respecting one another. We will never agree on ALL things - except that we are sinners, saved by Grace through the completed work of Christ on the cross - not a work of our own.

The ONLY way will can overcome IS TO STAND TOGETHER - like Jesus taught us in

John 13:34

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

hf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46820730

we are called to test the spirits, and as in the Toronto Blessing, with all the crying, dog barking, baaaing like goats, well that was not the Spirit of God, and Christians are to have nothing to do with such.
These types of movements hurt yours, personally I avoid all of it
 Quoting: furPete'sSake

That is not what I was referring to - I am not advocating for either "side" - IMO - where there is a counterfeit, there also has to be a real.

That said - most of what is in our world is counterfeit.

As far as the "Toronto" thing- I really don't know very much about it, except that it was a total freak show.

There are a lot of "teachers" who use a "cut and paste" theology to extract Scriptural sound bites to support their personal opinions. They can create an impressive array of scripture quotes that make a pretty "collage." The problem is that a collage can be made into whatever shape they want.
