There are subsidies for those with low income, children, etc. So being part of the "working poor" is no excuse for not buying insurance. The poor can also apply for Medicaid. No excuse for anyone to not have health insurance.

A poor person is poor, That means that even with a subsidy he will be hard put to pay for it. Even a reduced premium does not fit into a starvation budget.

What I think should happen is this:

If someone is over the age of 18 and and cannot pay for medical treatment either through insurance s/he has bought and/or one's own private funds (self, spouse, immediate family member, employer, or anyone else who chooses to voluntarily pay for the treatment), then medical treatment should simply be denied. However, possible exceptions to this could be made for people who truly cannot work or afford to buy insurance through no fault of their own, such as by having a severe and "real" (provable) disability of some kind.

If any adult knows that s/he might have to, for example, live with the misery of an untreated broken leg because they did not plan ahead for an unforeseen health problem, then, in my view, they deserve that misery -- although, I would hope that emergency "free clinics" would continue for REAL emergencies such as the aforementioned broken leg! -- and that these clinics would be funded by medical personnel doing pro bono work, charitable organizations, and individual benefactors. Either that, or there could be emergency funds available through such organizations as The United Way for (to repeat) TRUE emergencies.

I am simply sick of my taxes being used to support lazy, lifelong "welfare trash" who do nothing but abuse substances, watch TV, and/or have baby after baby who grow up to be just like their parents. I do not WANT to pay for those people getting treatment at hospital ER's for runny noses and low fevers -- OR to pay for more expensive treatments for them, which can run into tens of thousands of dollars. And, btw, I am EQUALLY against paying for medical treatment for those who CAN afford insurance and/or to pay for their medical treatment, but refuse to do so out of "principle". What kind of principles do these people have when they are content to let others support them when they are perfectly capable of supporting themselves?!

(Btw, I am also against government assistance of any kind to those people. Maybe if people KNEW that the government, "courtesy" of those responsible adults who work and DO pay taxes, people would not be so eager to be on the dole -- or at least not be so complacent about it!)

The IRS has "discretionary" enforcement directives. It is likely they will wait until 2015 to really begin to aggressively enforce Obamacare.

They don't need any new legislation, or executive orders, all the power they will ever need is cleverly worded in the thousands of pages of the ACA which is LAW now.

What about all the welfare/ food stamp/ fake disability scammers living off the public trough?

You are not required to by "car insurance" per se. If you operate a motor vehicle, you must carry "liability insurance" which protects others from damages or injuries you might cause with your vehicle.

You can purchase "car insurance"--comprehensive or collision coverage which insures your vehicle against theft or damage--but that is up to you.

It's like they are raping our children and forcing us to watch while saying they will kill you and your family if you "try anything stupid". In effect they are forcing us to "watch" this play out knowing full well that they have everything covered and we can do little besides take out a tiny article on the 3rd page of the local paper or have a say in a "Letter to the Editor" that few will read and fewer will care about.

Their time is short so they are accelerating the process while we just stand on the side of the road and watch them parade in front of us. And I'm talking about us here on GLP and a few other sites that even have a clue. The rest of the sheep are too busy staring at their phones or "chasing the dream" not knowing the nightmare to come. They don't even know there's a parade going on.

I've had a few well meaning folks here call me a pussy for this type of comment. But just what are we going to do? Grab a gun or two and run out the door screaming and shooting? Have a group of us storm the local government offices and start making demands? How about we all arm ourselves and head off to Washington? Think about it. Even if we were meeting behind closed doors and planning our moves they would easily find out because they monitor everything just like Santa Claus. Where's the funding for this revolution going to come from?
