90 Year Old Pearl Harbor Vet And Hero Bumped From Flight To Anniversary Ceremony Over Other Passengers
A 90-year-old World War II veteran en route to a ceremony marking the 72nd anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor was booted from his flight to accommodate the weight of additional jet fuel needed for the trip.

According to Hawaii News Now, Ewalt “Walt” Shatz, a WWII veteran credited with shooting down a Japanese plane during the 1941 attack, was scheduled to take a United Airlines flight direct from Los Angeles to Honolulu on Wednesday, but was re-booked on an American Airlines flight leaving eight hours later that included a layover in Maui.

If one dumb fuck that was involved in the lack of decision making on this still has a job next week, I think it will probably result..cough...in a pretty big "awareness campaign"

In fact, what about the people on the flight, nobody offered to give up their seat to the vet going to his Pearl Harbor memorial. What a bunch of fat fucks. Search facebook and twitter, "Leaving for Hawaii" , that should show the selfish people, I mean if someone wanted to hypothetically just know who could be so selfish.

Oh shit, that guy looks as fat as two 90 year olds, hmmm, why didn't they bump him for weight...hmmm

This country is going to shit...wait it already did

That is sad and so disrespectful.

When going home for my Dad's funeral 6 1/2 years ago I was honored to sit next to one of the Tuskegee Airman. I believe there were 3 of these Heroes on the flight.
The gentleman I sat next to was so very humble and told me stories of the other two Heroes on the plane, he rather played down his part.

The were on their way to Washington to receive the Congressional Metal of Honor.

The sad thing was that the metal that was presented that day would go to the Smithsonian if they wanted a metal of their own THEY HAD TO BUY IT THEMSELVES!

This country has hit the skids for sure. When we put the Illuminati bastards on a pedestal.

Boycott united airlines!

Yeah, anyone stopping to think for one second could have avoided this, I would fire everyone involved on the spot.

United, in a statement to Hawaii News Now, said, “Inclement weather in the path of United flight 1226 required the flight to carry additional fuel and, as a result, reduce the number of passengers on board by 41.

Reduce by 41? They must have some REAL bad weather issues!

Bumping a frail 90 year old man. 8 hours in an airport would be an ordeal.
I only fly Southwest anymore. They don't charge for the first suitcase.

I believe it was Southwest that I was flying at the time...The Pilot brought it to the passengers attention about these Heroes. The whole plane responded with hand clapping and cheers!

I do love southwest...they are easy and fun to fly!

UA bumped 2 people from a flight to Hawaii. A 90 year old war hero (Shatz) going to a WWII reunion and a guy in a wheelchair. Layovers are a PITA but a 90 year old? All the people they could have bumped but they shit on a 90 year old. UA will never get a dime in business from me.

They are so much more laid back...and they TRY to find GOOD things to acknowledge or comfort people...
Another time I flew (sadly another funeral for my gf) the attendants gave me a bottle of wine for the road to cheer me up as best they could.

It's the one airline I always recommend.

I went to Hawaii (and the USS Arizona memorial) in 1994 on Northwest Airlines. They seemed good (now merged with Delta).

I would, without hesitation, give up my seat to any WWII vet wanting to go to a memorial ceremony!

Reduce number by 41? As in 1941?

And they take off a hero from that day?
