Hehe, yea, on my funeral I plan a huge tree planting ceremony...

The south africans celebrate the persons life, as in difference we focus on the death of same.

I find that refreshing, to honor a personas life with a party :)

Obama offered his hand to Raul Castro before taking the stage to give his speech at the Mandela ceremony in a new sign of his willingness to reach out to US enemies, a US official told AFP.
OBAMA SHOOK HANDS WITH CUBA'S RAUL CASTRO AT THE MEMORIAL, A US OFFICIAL CONFIRMS.
 Quoting: Squiggles

ANC had relations with Cuba.
Castro spoke of fighting colonianism, racism.and poverty.
Good speech.

After the revolution Castro called the United States first for help and reconciliation.
Had we taken the call, Cuba might be a state now.

Kinda funny how white americans are gonna hate on Obama beginning now as he appears at the funeral of Mandela,
considering the history of South Africa.
Obama ain't a liberal, but he's making all the right people
angry!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9387177

I do wish the average white American would get a goddamn clue about the history of South Africa. The white South Africans were around before most of the blacks. Most of the blacks broke into the country as illegal aliens, became the majority, started slaughtering the native white South Africans and took over. The racist black illegal aliens cried about how oppressed and discriminated against they were as they murdered innocent South African families.

Does any of this sound familiar? Perhaps reminds of some people that come from the south of some border somewhere?

Barack and Michelle Obama traveled to South Africa on Air Force One with former President George W. Bush, his wife Laura and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter are also attending the Tuesday memorial service but traveled to Africa separately

The American President and First Lady have arrived in Johannesburg alongside their predecessors as Air Force One arrived in South Africa on Tuesday morning.

Mr Obama has now been pictured arriving after a 17-hour flight from Washington on board Air Force One, during which he rode with his wife Michelle, former President George W Bush, Laura Bush, and former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton.

He has been given a prominent role in the memorial service for former South African president Nelson Mandela.
The memorial will feature tributes by some of the anti-Apartheid icon's family and a speech from United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The event at the 95,000-capacity FNB Stadium in Soweto will begin at 11am Tuesday with a rendition of South Africa's national anthem - the only music in the order of service.

Interfaith prayers will then be held to reflect his world appeal before Mandela's friend, Andrew Mlangeni, who was imprisoned alongside the leader, speaks to the crowd.

Tributes will also be made by General Thanduxolo Mandela, and 'Madiba's' grandchildren Mbuso Mandela, Andile Mandela, Zozuko Dlamini and Phumla Mandela.

Haven't read through this thread yet to see if anyone else has commented on why Bush, Clinton, and Carter need to be there too. Since when have former presidents in this country been so active along with the present potus.

Also heard tell that Mandela died prior to the MSM announcement.

Well neither the Blacks nor the British were the natives. The Dutch Boers have more of a claim to being natives than either of them, because when the Boers settled South Africa the land was almost empty of people.
