Of all the stuff I've read here on GLP, this has GOT to be one of the weirdest. ISON was called the 'Comet of the Century'; yet most people have never heard of it.

Some people say it has disintegrated, yet I've seen videos saying it's still intact.

????????

So have I. ISON as a COMET may be dead but there is still something very large coming near earth and NASA is tracking it. It is also still going at the proper speed it would have been.

[link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov]

Why do they have Deep Impact on it? I am still very skeptical ISON is dead. Did DI have extra probe charges on it?

I did a thread yesterday on this:
[link to www.jpl.nasa.gov]

It is IMPOSSIBLE that is ISON and Encke.

Thread: COMET ISON is halfway between the Sun and Earth
The second part is about this.

ISON Doomtards are some of the stupids people i have ever seen or met on the internet...people like them want doom to happen and that just disturbs me greatlly...i mean do you all want some space rock to hit us and kill us all? Doomtards will never stop with their doomtardity.

Also its a known fact..and you can take my word for it i have family that are of mayan and aztec decent...the mayan nor the aztec people have never predicted the end of the world...there end of the calender just means entering into a new age..they never mentioned disasters of any kind. dont forget that the mayan calender never even considered leap years...beside didn't we debunk the mayan doomtards when Dec 21st 2012 came and went and now suddenlly there all like "OH NO the calender actually ends on Dec 16th 2013!! give me a break...do us all a favor doomtards and go do something more productive with your life..like research some actual good consipracy theories...that actually make sense..

And no I am not a government shill...just your average joe surfing the web at a late hour.

You're right about the conspiracy angle. I tried a few times during all of this to find out what the conspiracy with ISON (or any comet for that matter) could possibly be. I mean, we're talking about an object in space that's going to do what it's going to do, so how could anyone imagine a conspiracy around that?

The best I could figure is that they've created a conspiracy from the NEWS that was (and is) being reported. And NASA. For some reason, NASA and the MSM didn't/doesn't want us to know what ISON was/is doing. This was because ISON was really going to hit the earth, and NASA and the MSM didn't want us to know.

Even if this weird conspiracy about the news media and NASA conspiring to deprive us of the truth that ISON was/is going to hit the earth were somehow true, I'm like, "So what?" Who the fuck cares if we don't know that a comet is going to kill all of us instantly when it hits the earth. Is there something we can do in the meantime to avert this or anything? It's pointless, meaningless nonsense, true or not.

And obviously it's not.

I felt I would be bashed for this worse than I was. Thanks for not giving me anymore red than you did.

I have posted threads upon threads of Comet Ison. I have speculated endlessly.

However, I have always had a video or a link to back me up.

I have hoped Comet Ison would bring wonder and excitement, and it did.

I believe Comet Ison is the harbinger of the Great Change upon Planet Earth.

I, also, believe that... scientifically... Karl Battams would not be going out on a limb to declare Ison dead...not now...not again...unless he was sure in what he is saying.

R.I.P. Comet Ison...thanks for the wonder.

Comet Ison was declared "dead" today by Karl Battams at the American Geophysical Conference.

FROM ARTICLE:

The comet, which excited astronomers and the media as it zipped within 730,000 miles of the sun on Thanksgiving Day, was pronounced dead at a scientific conference Tuesday. Astronomers who had followed the ice ball mourned the loss of the sky show that once promised to light up during December.

Naval Research Lab astronomer Karl Battams, who headed the observing campaign for the comet, said ISON (EYE'-sahn) was stretched and pulled by the sun's powerful gravity. It was also hit with solar radiation. And the icy snowball just fell apart.

"At this point it seems like there is nothing left," Battams said at the American Geophysical Union conference in San Francisco. "Sorry, everyone, Comet ISON is dead. But its memory will live on."

Great thread, Krystal! (though I am biased, lol)

Ison sure was a thrill ride of ups and downs, but yes, dead. I am glad to see this thread. With all the flak that went around to the ison non-doom-tards, it is nice to have a thread that gives us a bit of applause for calling it.
There were a lot of other players too - geostorm, hydra, 7444, reality420 - are just the names i recall. All of us were able to look at the images, the data, the facts, and the science to make up our minds for ourselves about ison. I know not every body can do that. It takes a bit of experience in these matters. But we saw, we called it, and we stuck by it even when others were flip flopping. I was prepared to make my own thread admitting my failure if it had turned out i was wrong, but i was 99.9% sure that I was not - or else i would not have argued it so passionately.
I had a great time debating Ison the Terrible. It was bittersweet. To those who cried about me "following astro", i am not really sure why they say that. I agreed with his conclusions, because they matched mine. When i knew a thing but could not explain it, i was always grateful for his input. the same with geo and hydra. I guess by declaring my head up astro's bum they do not have to worry about apologizing to it, haha.

I am currently ashamed of the human race rite now. Not all of them. Its funny but all the conspiracy people usually want the sane thing. that is fine - to a certain extent i am hoping for some mild doom too. Be nice to see the powers of the world reset and have to start over. But when I call doom, it will be because no amount of vigorous debunking can debunk it. When i call doom, start digging a bunker in your back yard. No amount of wishful thinking will make me believe in doom that is not actual.

oh krystal, sungrazer comets put this tweet out:
Sungrazer Comets ‏@SungrazerComets

@HubbleTelescope will attempt to observe #ISON's dusty remains on Dec 19 with wide-field camera
[link to twitter.com (secure)]

so, one could say the funerary viewing of the remains will take place on december 19th. In Lieu of flowers, Ison has requested donations instead to the ison-is-fine-team of high fives and smilies instead of rudeness and abuse.

Remember, we all saw it EXITING the other side of the Sun still having the V-shape.

That about sums it up.

1. It wasn't obliterated.
2. It ain't just dust.
3. It didn't disappear.

Yea, it may have stopped outgassing, and there for is "dead" in terms of making the kind of nice tail we are all used to seeing from a comet, but all that mass is still going somewhere.

Exiting at 9 o'clock, instead of at 11 o'clock of the sun as expected, HAPPENED, and it is NOT good news.

OK...the verdict is in.

I am going to take Karl Battams word for it. Ison is officially dead.

I believe that Comet Ison is no more, as far as the scientific community is concerned.

I want to congratulate Dr. Astro and Green Girl for their scientific conclusion that Comet Ison is now dead.

As far as the Ison debris is concerned, I will trust Dr. Astro and Green Girl on their findings.

You can give me all the red karma you want to give me. I always search and update for my threads.

This is the latest news coverage of Comet Ison.
 Quoting: Krystal

When one fails to create an opinion of ones own and accepts the opinions of others as fact, one chooses to bear no responsibility for ones words or actions.

You are essentially covering your own ass, so that if comet Ison does do something spectacular, you can blame some random scientist, or astro, or gg, instead of taking responsibility for the words you have spread..

Sad..

Like the movie said,
"When they say everything is fine, thats when you run".

I will always give to the benefit of doubt, I will wait until the Dec 26 and see if anything appears.

It doesnt bother me to wait, it causes no harm to anyone, it is just my way.

I sure dont want Doom, I have family to care for and no bunker here.

Its a great story line though.

Gosh you guys have short memories!!!!

There was a thread on NASAs press conference this morning?
Aside from it being realy suspect when it was cut off right before talking about ISONs size and what went wong with cams filming its trip around the sun....

They said shuttles, probes and hubble would monitor this week!!
They have just sent up two shuttles to watch it!!!
They said it was likely now debris, with a significant remnant

but now they say.....its dead
wait
when did start talking about an animal?

So what does that mean?!
A comet is dead.....

Its heart stoped?
Isons fakeing its own death?
Its been buried?
Its become space?
The cremation ceramony was lovely?

Look......
Theres three potential outcomes hear....
And none of them involve a rock being dead
i mean comon!!!
You wait for a suits diagnosis....
And the conclusion is a rock died?!

WTF IS THAT?!?!

1) its intact
2) a significant remnant remains but ison is largely broken up and presents itself as a debris field
3) its a debris field

another option which is n/a hear is it was vaporized
ISON was not vaporized

What a stupid statment from a scientific comunity
'a rock is dead'
If these guys are giveing you the stone cold facts....
Next they will tell you Lovejoys a clown and its custard pied the sun so its guna be dark for a while!!!

Lol, being of mayan or aztec decent doesn't mean they automatically know the entire history of their people. That is like saying because I am german I know all of german mythology and lore. Your logic is greatly flawed.

Also, it's not wanting doom, it's wanting a fresh start. The world is so corrupt it deserves some sort of punishment. I say this because of all the other "good conspiracy theories" as you have said.

The world isn't a pretty place, and those in control are not respectable people. I hope you can at least admit to that.

I can garandamntee that my family knows more about the mayans and aztecs then your ass...its called knowing the language and able to read the many ancient writings and never have these ancient people predicted the end of the world you DoomTard.

Your sick for thinking this world needs that type of punishment..seriouslly screw you..there are alot of good people on this planet and wanted them to be "punished" is just disgusting and evil of you. no the people in charge of everything..the ones behind the curtain deserve punishment not the rest of the human race you pessimistic piece of shit.

I said the world as a whole deserves some sort of punishment, please don't twist my words to make me seem evil.

Are you saying that the world doesn't deserve it? That the world should just continue in the direction it is going?

This is my point of view on the world, and I believe it will take something spectacular to change the minds of the masses. I don't mean to spread fear or hate, for I don't want widespread death, I merely want change.

You will be soon eating those words. Natural cycles are not Doom as you like so many others put it. Nature will take its course irrespective of mans lies, deceit, so called knowledge etc. etc. but eat those words you will.

You know its nice to know how optimistic of the future you guys are...(sarcasm)

now i have this very nice post from another forum that was discussing the ISON doomtard theory and the poster has some very good points please read below

Quote:I am calling bullshit on the entire Ison/asteroid [Doom] scenario.

People need to be onto these things themselves, if there was a disaster coming there are too many independent astronomers out there with 16 inch reflector telescopes, which are actually cheap to make now, (click this link, you will be shocked at how cheap they are) and with tens of thousands of ultra high powered telescopes out there now in private hands, private astronomers would be ALL OVER THIS. The new reality is that the million dollar telescopes of 20 years ago can be had nowadays for less than the cost of a Harley.

They can easily fake convincing "asteroid impacts" with ICBM nukes
All it would take to make an incoming ICBM look like an end of the world asteroid is a little tungsten wool attached to the outside of it, to make a freakishly bright light show with an enormous tail coming in. And an incoming ICBM looks like a freakishly bright meteor anyway, it's just a re-entering spacecraft which is always very bright. If this light show was followed by an ocean based detonation, with the ICBM exploding at a depth of a mile or so, that "meteor" could be used to create a tsunami similar to the Japan tsunami.

So why are tsunamis and meteors all the rage in the alternative press now, all the while there has not been a peep out of all the independent astronomers who now own enormous light buckets that make most university telescopes look like toys? Most universities settled for 10 and 12 inch scopes decades ago, 16 inchers are far more powerful than what is common even in upscale universities because mega powerful cheap telescopes are a new phenomenon that universities have not caught up with.

If independent astronomers had something to photograph, (and if this was real they would all zero in on this new "threat" and post pictures) there should be millions of photos from tens of thousands of sources on the web. Because this is a hoax, you cannot find such sources on the web, and if this hoax remains limited to even a few hundred sources (and to this date the one or two sources are ambiguous), it can only be bullshit.

You can't hoax a guy with a 16 inch scope, get real, this would be NAILED 10,000X over if it was real.

Nowadays, Joe hobby can go out and buy a sixteen inch primary mirror with 1/4th the light gathering power of an extremely high class old school research observatory for about 1200 bucks, slap it into a piece of concrete form tubing with a decent secondary mirror and hang a Nikon D800 onto it with a lovely 36 megapixel sensor, set the ISO to 32,000 and bag a shot of a distant galaxy in less than 1/1000th the exposure time that film once required to hit the same resolution. So Joe Hobby won't need such an expensive precision tracking system to do the same level of work that research observatories needed a decade ago, and even at that, such precision tracking is available to joe hobby now. SO Joe hobby can combine the super high ISO capabilities with precison tracking to mimic having a much larger mirror than 16 inches.

When I said that "old school" Mount Palomar type stuff can be done by hobbyists now it was not an overstatement, technology really has come that far. Your hobbyist needs to have a brain to pull it off, but one thing is obvious now:

The elite simply CANNOT HAVE A METEOR THREAT FALSE FLAG WORK. WITH THE MOUNT PALOMAR OF 10 YEARS AGO AVAILABLE TO JOE HOBBY FOR THE COST OF A COOL MOTORCYCLE NOW, A LIE JUST WON'T SURVIVE SCRUTINY.

Doomtards go stick rocks up your asses and call them assons

It's still there, but no amateur astronomer has the right telescope to see it.

Re: Comet Ison Declared Dead At American Geophysical Union conference Today - December 10, 2013
[link to www.usatoday.com] and other scientists at the meeting pointed to a cascade of devastating evidence. Amateur astronomers using powerful equipment to follow ISON's path have been unable to see a "nucleus," the icy heart that defines a comet. One keen-eyed NASA spacecraft that looks at the sun was unable to see the comet after its closest solar approach. Another saw only a dusty streak, rather than a full-scale comet, after ISON skimmed the solar surface.

Scientists had long known that ISON might be snuffed out by the sun's intense heat and gravitational pull, but many cherished hopes that it would pull through and perhaps even become visible to the naked eye in the weeks after its solar approach on Thanksgiving Day.

Comet specialist Carey Lisse of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory maintained hope even last week that the comet had emerged intact – if not unscathed – from its rendezvous with the sun. But the amateur astronomers' findings were "the death knell," Lisse said. "There's definitely no nucleus there."

Question: When, if ever, did scientists declare a comet "dead" before this?

Question: Why did Comet 17P/Holmes brighten by a factor of over a half-million, and grow its coma larger than the sun, while farther away than Jupiter, where there is not enough heat to vaporize anything?

excellent - comets dont die neither they disintegrate its routine round trip from sun. its just nasa has paid all shill with an expensive x'mas gift so they dont spoil the party

howcome its still showing on one of their cores.

black friday was really lackluster so they r really worried about the x. mas shopping - welcome to fukin capitalist world they want your tax dollars to give it to nasta and its nasty puppets.

my advice to all ison supporters stop shopping period they took us on merry go round and look at the timing of this conference its unwarranted and definitely preplanned jus lik mabus coffin full with slush funds incase if the sthf they can dig it up and live happy again the real coffin is already buried.

Yeah, the timing is just perfect. The world's attention is on Mandela and they release, yet again, another disinfo that people won't pay an iota of attention to, to rationalise what they just heard.

The comet isn't going to hit us for sure but may/will have effects on our planet fields? Most won't notice this so why bother telling us this. Then that doesn't include the debris that's coming and who knows if that runs in the tens or hundreds of which NASA can't possibly deflect them all. And because ISON probably packs a punch, NASA can't possibly deflect all the inbound objects and broken pieces of ISON. This makes them look incompetent unable to do anything about the situation and then, they can't tell the world this. Telling us causes panic. It raises questions of how long they've known this, how long before impact, how much is coming, what else do they know about space and life. Basically the questions can go as far as the origins of mankind and this planet and NASA isn't prepared to answer such questions.

Again, if the comet is dead, why is hubble looking for it? Or better still, why are they giving us the impression that hubble is looking for it?

Personally I think they never lost it, still tracking it, know of the impact on earth and only that they aren't letting us know all this. But at the same time, they've covered their backs with the point that they are still searching so that heads at NASA won't roll when the comet shows up on our door step pretty soon.

Besides, mostly, only scientists and tinfoil hats pay attention to this kind of stuff and the percentage of that population is very tiny. The rest of the world masses can't be bothered so why spoil their dream state, when even if the truth slaps them in the face they won't wake up?

OK...the verdict is in.

I am going to take Karl Battams word for it. Ison is officially dead.

I believe that Comet Ison is no more, as far as the scientific community is concerned.

I want to congratulate Dr. Astro and Green Girl for their scientific conclusion that Comet Ison is now dead.

As far as the Ison debris is concerned, I will trust Dr. Astro and Green Girl on their findings.

You can give me all the red karma you want to give me. I always search and update for my threads.

This is the latest news coverage of Comet Ison.
