If this is actually the case, then there is no choice but to keep pumping the water in... they can't recover the cores, and if the cores overheat with no containment then they're going to emit a crapload of contamination into the air... In addition to the Uranium and Plutonium, we're talking about lots of Strontium-90, Iodine-131, and Cesium-137, plus various flavors of Thorium, and a soup of more exotic but shorter lived isotopes such as Americium-243, all of which is difficult to profile because we don't know exactly what the fuel is now contaminated with... In short, this is a fine mess, with no clear resolution, if there is one at all. They added that helicopters flying humanitarian missions 60 miles north of damaged Japanese reactors were coated with particulate radiation. The aircraft were washed off. Once the DOE knew they were exposed, they had them sail up and down the coast for weeks taking measurements to collect data. The helicopter rad specialist were finding radiators were reading 60,000 cpm after the missions. that's just about how long the DOE will be treading water when push comes fully to shove trying like hell to keep their own empty heads above the waterline, as if their very lives and livelihoods were dependent upon their own efforts in such regard known as "the fools errand" in some states clearly not a state of grace in their regard that's what happens when one takes responsibility for the wellbeing of others and fails to deliver accordingly recompense, reconciliation, reparation, ie: atonement albeit a long time coming, full circle is concurrent with such why? because it's "as it should be" hence it shall... ; ) |
